New to this forum, just bought a square nose

I everyone I am new to this forum

Just thought I would let you know I bought a '90 superjet over the weekend and took it out yesterday. Now I have very little experience with standups, so I have a lot of learning to do. So far I learned to jump, do tailstands, a fountain and I can carve a little bit

Included are some pics of the ski
I plan to take off the damaged upper graphics and registration and leave the lower

Is it ok with law enforcement to have registration on the sides of the handpole? I'd like to put it there

The only mod is the West coast ride plate and a (broken) intake grate
I need a intake grate - anyone have one for me? I am usually on rough water so a scoop style would be best

One more thing, I need a bolt for the exhaust, it is larger and has a "10" on it

Thanks guys

fun ski, love the SN
post in the want-to-buy section "WTB: SN Intake Grate" for a replacement to your busted one.
you should be able to find that missing bolt at a good hardware store under metric stanless fasteners.
Good Luck and welcome to the X!

Check with local DNR or whoever regulates boats in your state on the reg number.
some states are OK with it, some are not . . . .

thanks for the advice guys

yamanube - do you ever ride on MTKA?
The cops there will cite you for anything... my sister got stopped and they checked her ski for the "safe operation" stickers - I better give the police station a call

I stay off of Tonka, too many cops and yuppies. The police are pretty bad on the river too though and I never have been stopped. I got a warning for not have the 'safe operation' sticker...not a chance Im gonna put that ugly thing on my ski....maybe on the rideplate. If you call let us know what the police say (over in the TCJP section), we have quite a few guys who ride there.

yes but the waves on tonka are so big......I got my dad's F-12x 6 or 7 feet off the water this summer, and its a lot closer than driving to the st. croix

any advice on what intake grate to get? I don't want to spend more than $75, and it needs to be able to handle some chop

worx 201 or jet dynamics grates, you can MAYBE find one for $75

the ski looks great, I have a 1990 that looked JUST like that when I bought it.

those stickers were a BIATCH to remove.

LOL, thats what all the Tonka riders say before the come to the river.
Look for a Worx 201 (or really any of their toploaders are good) or an R&D aquevein. There was a guy selling some Solas double scoop grates here not to long ago for cheap, I used to run the exact one and it worked pretty good (WAY better than stock) keep your eyes peeled for a nice used toploader/scoop grate they come up often. Dont waste your money on one of those open style ones though.

Never give the sticker removal job to a girl hanging out in the garage so that she will have something to do... They will use gravel, grinders, nail files, dynomite whatever they can get there hands on to get the stickers off... with zero reguard for the paint. :17: Dont ask how I know this. :banghead:

with the graphics - do I peel the stickers and then use boiling water on the stuff that remains, or start with boiling water and pour it over the stickers while intact?

My plan for this ski is make it more functional-with a intake grate and maybe a bilge pump-without falling down the slippery slope of modding - we'll see how that goes

welcome

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the "World of SJ" !

I have 3 SN's and would never want to give them away....
