701/ ported ? bore size? HELP

I just bought an engine and have some questions , does this look ported ? bore size is 82 mm , 34.5 mm to top of exhaust port from top of cyls , bottom of ex port is 70 mm from cyl top , the piston is slightly scored it barely catches your finger nail so i think i can lightly sand it off, and the ring groves are still smooth so i think this piston will work again , i will hone the cyls , so where can i buy weisco rings , protek orings , a rubber b-pipe mount ''one broke'' head and cyl gasgets or do i need a complete kit ? any help appreciated ! ..... PS: i know im not up on my eng specs '' thats why im asking the questions '' but i know my prices ....., heres what i got in the package FWIW ... complete 62-t w/ elecs , , b-pipe , NEW dual 44s ,ocean pro fa's protek head , , girdle kit ,wiesco pistons ,144 pump ,pro tek drop nozzle, msd,umi -steering, riva exhaust , and a basket of other parts all for $ 650 !!!!! s w e e t ! Oh yea what do the carbon tracks on top of the piston mean ??

looks like the port needs to be cleaned up.. very ruff. you can prob run it how it is, but its not going to last long.

i'd say bore it up one and get new pistons and clean the port with a nice chamfer

I can't really tell on the porting and don't have the specs to access your measurements. I would not worry about the carbon on the top of the piston.....for the most part that is normal. If the piston is completly clean then the motor was usually run too rich. Looks like a good deal. Check the cran for excessive play and bolt her back together. I would have it bore over and get a set of new pistons and rings.

sounds like you guys all agree !... one more question what will happen to my compression will it go up or down when bored ?

You have a 62T 701 cylinder that's been ported and the exhaust ports are raised. An un-ported 62T cylinder should have a measurement of 37.6mm for the top deck exhaust port height and a width of 44.75mm. I would take one of the rings off the pistons an install it a 1/4" down in the top of the sleeve and check the gap with a feeler gauges. If it's more then .016" I would consider replacing the pistons an overbore one size up. If you have calipers and a bore gauge, I would check the piston skirt clearance.

BTW... is this engine going in a Blaster? :scratchchin:

thanks !!!! Im for sure going for a next size up bore so i wont need to measure , thanks for the porting info , and yes its going in my spare b-1 !! Ive been waiting on an LPW eng for several months now , and still waiting , so this will be a quicker fix !

It will increase a little with each overbore.

well its suposed to be high already , I may look for a spare set of domes , Ill start on this monday , Its probly going to group K because hes never missed a deadline with me yet and ive NEVER heard any neg things about that company and he's always avaiable to help on the phone ,FWIW . .......... And thanks again !
