You guys are definately spoiled. Chances are when we get good surf (freshwater, Lake Ontario) when I crash I'll have 10 minutes to live due to water temps.

Fresh water and waves= the most blown out shietiest surf ever. lol

A garden hose on the side of your house is all you need for a day of salt water riding.

yup..blownout waist high slop 3 times a year in 30deg water dosnt sound fun to me!!

None of these pics are mine. Got them off greatlakessurfing.com.

Now that I own my own house and can have my own garage, I am so into riding Lake Ontario, and will ride hopefully 6-7 months of the year. I want to know and ride the surf that you guys do year round.

I bet would could pioneer freshwater canadian surf riding.:shhh: I've lived 5 mins from Lake Ontario for 23 years and have never seen a standup in it let alone riding in the rough.

I know people ride in Lake O, but I've never seen them. We need to evolve the standup community here. I know guys ride, I just don't know any of them. :sadwavey:

damn... Im down for that... as soon as I get my shiz back together

Next year is going to be sweet. I'm going to toss my little 650 out and grab a Roundie over the winter. I'll also have a trailer for the first time, and will be ready anyday after 5pm. Weekdays preferred :Banane35:

Right now I'm limited to how much I can ride - new house (No $), girlfriend with broken fibula (no free time), no trailer (no transport)....

Chris - I'll try to set up some stuff next year for sure. Weekly rides would be nice. This summer is going to fade so fast its going to be hard to get out other than weekends (and I'm at the cottage on weekends).

We will definately have to get some peeps out this fall/next spring summer. It's reduculous when you think about it. We pretty much live right on the water, and very few people use it (watercraft or whatever...). We take it for granted, I've learned to appreciate it since being on this site (and hearing of how many people must to travel 1+hrs to get to the closest body of water :/ )

That hit me a while back too. 2.5mil people 10 mins from the lake, and I bet 1% of them use Lake Ontario more than once a year, be it boat, booze cruise, fishing, skis etc....

First off, I should have not had to do anything for a 1k handlepole. The pole shold come to me ready, 100% complete with all the little bugs worked out of it. It was an issue with the resin that he used. It is a quick fix, I just have to paint the pole skin. I talked to him about it a few weeks ago and I don't think he is doing visual carbon skins anymore...............too much of a hastle, .5lbs heavier and not as ridgid as the prepreg skin.

I agree BRO, it should have been cleared for you AND he should have used an non bleshing resin. I didnt mean to imply you ordered incorrectly at all, just that exposed carbon can and most likeley will blesh or fade w/o the protection of clear (even if you use a non bleshing resin).
Hopefully some day when and if my pole ever ships It will be light prepreg painted and ready to go. If it does not show once the hull is ready for it, then RRP I shall go.

yes indeed thee isn't the power of an ocean wave
we do get nice waves though at times in warm weather too
the best part about fresh water riding is i don't have to warry about floating in the water and having a giant ass fish eat my legs:laugh:

but you do get cleaner more powerful waves no doubt in the ocean
and it's more bouyant as well

Of course the Ocean will have chunkier waves, there is way more water to move, stronger currents, and there is always a storm in the ocean somewhere...

Got to make do with what we got. There is still more than enough power in the Great lakes to launch backys off of, and I'm not ready to throw one yet so no concern here !
