'07 sj cracking at the bondline

there was a guy who got cash from yamaha for cracks under warranty. he fixed it himself. I think his screen name was newman.

I have a 07 SJ that was built by Kevin Collins at Legdrag.com. While reinforcing the hull he told me that he couldn't remember ever seeing a SJ with that many holes in the bond line. This was also on a brand new ski never in the water.
I'd get it reinforced or get the bond line glued.
I'm sure you will get other ideas also from others. :biggthumpup:

When I was at the Universal Studios watershow they bought 3 brand new 07's and 1 out of the 3 had that same problem with cracking below the bond line. It was replaced with the warranty:biggthumpup:.... They would not replace it if it was taken off the ski jump :bigeyes:, than the warranty was void.

I rode with Parr yesterday and he said that 2 of the 3 have now cracked. They were fixed under warranty, but the work wasn't that good from what he said.

bottom line is that if you buy a new or used SJ and plan on using it for freestyle or freeriding than you better re-inforce it properly before it even hits the water

A friend of mine just got a 07. He's owned a 96 from new. He thought the 07 hull was lighter and not as strong. I told him he was full of Chi-, guess I was wrong.
I prolly wiegh 170 with.gloves,jac.shorts and booties,
riden only 5 times, never beached, not even 4 tanks of gas thru it.
no barrel rolls, ramps or log jump at my lake.
bottom of hull is brand new smooth not a scratch. i will try to get pics.
if yamaha does fix it, do i have the option to take it to any glass repair shop,
the shop i bought from is more a motorcycle/ atv mutli brand dealer.

Just curious, what is your serial number? I think the other two cracking 07's that I know of are around 30ish. I think Yamaha does it different ways. I've heard of them paying you to get it repaired at a place of your choice (I would do it yourself if I was you) or them doing it. I'm sure it's negotiable.

I got an 05 bought new with warranty back in January and I just noticed my hood cracking(while installing my new x-h2o graphics) on the rear corners and the front left corner of the hull by the hood is cracking,right where the hood and nose meet. I was wondering if I should take it to yamaha and see if it might be covered or if I should just fix it my self. Ill try and get pics so you can see whats goin on.

Newman's '05 hull did crack at the bondline and we reinforced the whole hull. We did Frosty's hull right after and the '01 hull was thicker everywhere. especially in the nose, pole mounting area and under the hood it is alomst twice as thick. I had no way to judge the bond line area, so...

yeah, it was strange to see how much thicker my '01 hull is compared to Newman's '05 - around the hood lip area was especially noticeable.
