i know what i have to do, but i have very short time to do so. just want to know if its at all reasonable; replacing a starter on a superjet with a type 4 dry pipe without having to remove 'anything' else (ie. motor, chamber, mani)

it looks like a tight fit, but has anybody been successful?

but as of right now, just the gas tank, and battery assemble are taken out.

taking it off may be possible but getting it back on was a problem for me with my b-pipe, for the amount of time i f-ed with it i now just remove the pipe. your pipe is probably a bitch to remove and install, the b-pipe takes minutes.

The Type 4 chamber should come out easier than a B-Pipe.
But I agree, remove chamber, and perhaps the manifold, it'll be much easier.

Depending on which chamber you have. The blue one can be a pain in some skis.

i completely tore my ski down to the crank last night in under 2hrs with beer breaks and lots of smoke breaks, it took steve much longer to tear his down, i went to bed at 2:30. Oh the carnage we did last night.

You must have small arms. I can't get my arm between hull, ebox, and headpipe very well. Besides, it only takes 3 minutes to remove the headpipe.

I changed my starter in lanier without pulling the motor but I had a bpipe and manifold. Wasnt very hard at all and I was kinda short on tools and working on the campsite ground. I took the pipe off to do it, but not the manifold.

In the time it took me to read the threads and formulate my input, Boris could have jacked the engine out of my ski.

I volunteer my boat for all part swap race competitions:Banane01:

... as long as I don't have to supply the parts:rolleyes:

To add a degree of difficulty, the ski most be in the water, and the only tools, a screwdriver and a pair pliers.
A few catagories:
Coil swap
Drypipe Coupler Replacement
Impeller Pull
Carb rejetting
Starter Pull
Intermediate Shaft replacement
Tank removal without removing the pipe or battery tray.
Waterline repair without house clamps and no tools
Ski tow, fastest and the effiecent pull by your buddy (team event)

Oops this almost reads like a day at Lanier with BK:biggrin::biggrin:

I forgot the the Flywheel and Stator Pull with just the Tank removed.
