im going to be getting a complete minus ebox 61x this weekend for $200. the top end is shot, and the crank status is unknown. i have a 62t bottom end that is in pretty rough shape, so depending on if it is salvagable or not i may just stick with the 61x motor whole. anyway i need some direction as to what i should do to this motor as far as porting, boreing out, ect. i am going to be on a college budget, so i dont want to spend a ton. my plans are to run the 46mm carb i have on my 650 now, the coffman pipe i have upgrading to a factory b at some point, i also want to put an ada head with mabye 35cc domes for pump gas. i need suggestions on:
1)what reeds to use.
2)where to get ported for relatively inexpensive or do the templates you can buy work well, i wouldnt mind doing it myself.
3) what bore should i go to, bc i figure i might as well go oversize if i have to bore and replace pistons anyway. 83mm??
4) what order do i do these things in, bore first then port or port first then bore. i was thinking the second one sounded better
5) can i get a 701 manifold that my coffman pipe will fit onto? i have read that cutting the 650 manifold to match the 701 exhaust ports is risky bc they make it too thin.
6) what brand pistons should i be going for?

my main objective for this motor is to have some really good power all around, mostly bottom end bc i love attempting freestyle, and hopefully i will be much better by the time i have this done :brap:

thanks in advance for the help

1)what reeds to use.
Carbon Tech

Get the Sport Port templates, they do work very well.
3) what bore should i go to, bc i figure i might as well go oversize if i have to bore and replace pistons anyway. 83mm??
83 is the normal limit on a 61x cylinder, so if you bore to 83, then have a problem, you need to resleeve. Go the next size up to remove any damage, there is minimal gain from 1 or 2mm bore.
4) what order do i do these things in, bore first then port or port first then bore. i was thinking the second one sounded better
if it needs bored, get it done. If not, just ported.
5) can i get a 701 manifold that my coffman pipe will fit onto? i have read that cutting the 650 manifold to match the 701 exhaust ports is risky bc they make it too thin.
no idea
6) what brand pistons should i be going for?
Pro-x or oem

I use Boysen glass reeds.

I do not have time to sit around and do porting so I have it done.

No idea on the manifold

I use proX pistons that’s what the builder recommended.
