Ignition Timing Advance

Is it possible to advance the timing a little on a 62T/61X engine with stock ignition componets? I am running a modified stock CDI w/adjustable rev limiter. Paul ported my stuff 2 weeks ago and it is the shizzle, just seeing if there is a little more I could do w/some timing advance.:brap:

Please dis regard this thread, just talked to Paul, it is do-able, don't think I'm gonna do it at this point.

I advanced mine some with a MSD enhancer and some porting. Just don't go WFO for more than a few seconds.

Here's a pic of mine, set neutral (I'm running an Advent ignition). To advance it, rotate the stator counterclockwise. You could move it blindly, but unless you are using a timing light, I would suggest only going about a millimeter counterclockwise.

OK, since we are here, Paul said bout 1/8" advance(counter clockwise) and be DAM sure 50/50 mix 93 octane and av gas and NO full throttle runs! I tend to get carried away chasing a boat down for a wake to jump, so I believe I am gonna work on my technique for rollin instead of more power.

I went "blind" slightly more than 1/8" I think.

185 psi head, msd enhancer, BUT its on a 650 with slightly cleaned up exhaust ports.

I can go WOT pretty much as much as I want, but its jetted fat ( same jets as a 61x701 with B pipe)

I run 91 or 93 octane, whatever I find.

its dangerous though, and im sure some day it will go away on me.

I am running an MSD enhanser and stock timing with an X flywheel. I advanced my timing 3.5mm which is just over 3 degrees. I switched to 50/50 mix of 93 octane and race fuel. I couldn't tell a difference. If there was a tiny bit more power I didn't notice it enough to warrant the $7 a gallon for race fuel. So timing is going back to stock when I get my new 8mm crank installed.
