I have failed to do a fountain and got a boo boo :(

so i got the sub down, working on stabs, kinda coming to me, the fountain trick well that was something else haha. I had a real hard time getting on the nose of the ski to be able to reach the bars, after a good workout i was able to finally grab the bars and so i pinned the throttle as soon as i reached for it... well the ski shot straight from under me and i stayed in the same spot, gave me a fat bruise, in the picture it doesnt even look that bad, couple days later it was all blue. both of my inner thighs got ripped hard by the bars. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b88/nickt916/DSC02305.jpg?t=1180519526

now im being a sissy about trying it again. First how the heck do people reach the bars so easy.. i dont know how you short people do it im 6'2 and can only reach it after fighting the ski for a while. second, how do you keep it from sliding under you, do you wrap the ski with your kegs and lock your feet or something?

fountain is a great show time trick or to get someone attention or to wet your friends :woot:

Are you trying them from the water and climbing on? if so...dont....just a PITA until you get your balance down.

Do it the ski while moving.

Yeah, get some forward momentum and spin on the hood.

This guy is right. I tried wrestling with my ski like an alligator fight before and it is no fun and pretty much whoops you by the time you get to the bars and you're done. I ride slow, but fast enough to be kind of on plane, then reach around with my left hand on the throttle then jump in the air and spin and try hitting the rails on the ski with my feet. Then push down with feet, and throttle.

at first spin on the hood as described above.

then from the water, with the motor running grab the rubber on the nose then pull ur self up far as u can. If you cant reach the bars then grab the little intakes on the back of the stock hood to pull urself up the extra couple inches so you can reach the bars.start with less than 1/4 throttle, not 100% ;)

Dont even try to do one boarding the ski from the front, it deffinitly doesnt look as cool and is much harder. Ride at a little above plane (so the ski is stable but still has enough momentum to ride for a few feet while you are not on the throttle) dropping to your knees makes things easier, then put your chest on your chin pad, reach your throttle hand accross and grab the oposite rail, spin around on the hood and put your ass on the nose, try to get the nose to sink a bit before touching the throttle then only give it a couple quick braps to really sink the nose in and get the tail up from there just a little throttle to get it started (real light or it will drive out from underneath you like you already found out) also go get yourself some body plugs and plug up the intakes on the front of your hood, (I think 2X 1.5" and 1X 1.25") and open up the rear and you can fountain twice as long.

There we go, exactly what I was trying to say, but you did it much better  I could picture myself doing it as I read it.

Its one of those things thats easy to do, the people on shore/boats like to see it and it makes you giggle like a little girl after shooting a blast of water 15' in the air.

i think i got the giggles trying to climb from the front as it looked like i was trying to hump the ski for some 5 minutes in the gas cap or something.

The body plugs, where can you get those? also are those 3 holes there for air to the engine? and closing those will let less air in so i would have to cut the front 2 vent holes so the engine will breath better?

ill be working on the fountain today in a couple of hours. Do i spin righty or left? or it doesnt matter?

I think you can get the plugs at a hardware store (not sure though) and yes then you would open up the rear ones larger. I spin counterclockwise but I dont think it would matter.

duct tape is for ducts, theres better stuff out there.
but if you do get duct tape get the best name brand the cheap stuff is thin and wont stick.
blocking off all the holes in front will trap water in the hood, leave the lower inside one open.

D-Roc

I forgot!
you can rest your upper body on the hood and 180 spin your ski under you into a fountain. once you get the hang of it you'll be the talk of the town.

Just don't do what I did: I got an XMW pole a while back complete with lowered bracket, but I'm still running the stock hood and nose piece for now, meaning that the pole is recessed way down. I wasn't even thinking and hopped on the front to spin the ski for a fountain. Ouch!! Don't do hood tricks with a lowered pole and a stock hood

I found my right testicle floating right by the ski, but I had to swim around a while before I finally found my left one. I'm still not sure the one I found is mine....
