ok, I plan on shorting my pole at the bracket like everyone says. I would like to get new bars and turn plate. What ones do you all recomend I think the xmetal one is the biggest set back at -2? Right? I also think they come with the bars. Any other suggestions?

XM only comes with bars and plate..... you'll still need the UMI starter kit for another $130 or so.... search "Yamaha/Kawasaki Mounting System" on http://www.umiracing.com/

they're all the same IMO, assuming they're the same shortness.... just price and see what's < $. Wamilton's excepts both bar types so that is a plus... but I'd rather run straight myself anyway.

I'm a visual person, so I like to post pics.
Here are some before and after pics of the X-metal steering on my ski.
Not sure if that helps or not.
I added ODI Rogue grips and a UMI throttle (not included with the X-metal steering)

Off hand do you know what tap size you need in order to redrill your stock plate (using the original bolts)? I'd like to pick one up on the way home from work today.

Doug

M8x1.25 i think. If you pass by a Harbor Freight on the way home it's like $14 for a whole decent metric set. :cool2:

Those $16 bar clamps and the $130 steering mount system required is also not included. So for X-metal your looking at $261 ordering from multiple places, for WDK $200 from one place. I like the X-Metal, but cant justify the cost and hassel. I have a WDK on the way and own 2 X-Metals now as well (bought before I knew of the WDK system) plus I already had the UMI for other 2 set ups but still had to buy black clamps and I could only find them at UMI direct.

Yes, that looks awesome. Same thing that I'm after. Did you have to modify your chip pad at all?

Doug

I had to modify a 24/7 RN chin pad slightly w/ X-Metal bars and plate. The throttle cable hit it when turned to far left, it also depends what steering stop you use, if stock then which direction its turned.
