I think it should be noted that this is more for a surf oriented ski. for flat water reinforcing should be near the bottom for most of us. unless we are hitting massive boat wakes its going to take a very skilled rider or a lot of power to get to the point that you are going high enough to brake a hull.

just my 2 cents.

option 1
in order of modification:

1. reinforce skis engine compartment and tray
2. worx 201 intake grate
3. skat trak 12/15 freeride swirl prop
4. cut your pole down to -4"
5. 0 degree straight bars/X-metal steering
6. footholds
7. Hydro Turf
8. Blowsion Tubby 2's (sponsons)
9. one way valve/scupper
10. dual cooling
11. Factory B Pipe
12. milled stock head
13. MSD ignition
14. porting (LPW)
15. lowered hood kit (tons of options) I am using the waterdawg hood, very well priced
16. more motor and hull upgrades

It's my belief that handling mods should always be done first before engine mods

I'd recommend a quick-steer mod, cover front air intakes / increase rear intakes (rn only?), and hood straps/limiting rope as stage one under option 2.

And add one-way valve as an option when doing footholds.

Not at all, reinforcing for flat is a must. My ski would have been in pieces right now if I didn’t reinforce. You need to ride the Mississippi with us some time.

but more than likely some one who is just starting to build a boat, most likely their first boat they wont be able to do what some one like you who has been riding for a long time can do. Also you should treat it more like a surf boat if you are hitting massive cruiser wakes.

I would say flip around stage 5 and 6. having a shorter pole and lowered top deck is much more important then having a ported engine with large carbs. I coul ddo 90% of my tricks with a stock 701 engine and dual 38 carbs and a lowered top deck/shorter pole. However, if i had the porting and larger carbs with the stock hood and pole i would only be able to do about 50% OR LESS of the tricks i currently do.

If your going the length to have the engine ported....buy a damn REAL aftermarket head. Billet aluminum witha girdle kit is no NEEDED but very highly recomended. Engine vibtraion and more compression. It's easy to crack a cylinder.

In my honest opinion.....

Stop worrying about tons of crap to put ony our ski....learnt or ide your ski better and get some good things down before slamming $$ into it just yet. Sticka pipe, head, prop and grate on that thing and just enjoy it. 90% of people that buy SJs now seemt o be more worried about parts lists then riding. I mean reinforcing is good for any ski and i completely agree...but leanr some trick first and then build as you go....

Michael Ratti rolled a stock RN with a pipe, head and prop on flat water for a long time....it cna be done on even less if you try hard.....i cant and wont be able too but just something to think about

I have stress cracks from flat water BR attempts....
