Haven't seen too many posts on how everyones reinforcing their hood lip.

I want to start riding aggressive and want to prevent damage (and not repair), and since I will be installing footholds I thought I'd go ahead and reinforce the bilge.

Only thing I recall seeing is a post by Paul (Jr.) over at PWCT:

Under the hood lip: Get a roll of 2" dirictional carbon, cut it to length, wet it out, roll it long ways , as if you were trying to make a fishing pole. then lay it into the lip area. Take another piece of the directional carbon & lay it flat overtop as a finish edge. You will never break your lip area again!

There is not enough weight saved to use carbon for this reinforcement, just use fiberglass. Remove the fuel filter and all rivits on the lip, fill them with epoxy and chunks of glass if you can. 2 or 3 layers under the whole lip should be enough.

resin mixed with milled fibers, with the sheets of fiberglass and carbon fibers used as reinforcing on the sides wrapped over.

I agree..... I personally would not foam this area, or the bondline! I now know why it is so important to fill the bondline w/resin mixed with milled fibers. :banghead:

I now have a serious project under way..... :sneaky:

PS. If you ride surf, dont skimp on reinforcing!
