how much power do you need to do backys off smaller boat wakes? my ski has a riva 8-port cylinder stock lower case ,msd, dual 44 bucks, lite fly,13/15cut back, xft trim an goodies! do i need more power to do it off a small 2-3 foot wake?

A backflip in general is all balls. It is really not a technical trick, just a commiting trick that is all or non. I would have to say that if you have to ask if you can...........then you probably won't. I would say that the boat is maybe w/in range off a good wake b/c of the power and trim. But then again allot of guys don't like to use trim off a boat wake b/c it limits your vertical which is also important.............that is where the power plays a role

You will never know if you never try. It's just water  . I have had both of my shoulrs rebuilt and I still have that frame of mind (You Can't Fix Stupid)

Hit it off the first wake coming off the boat that is curling over so it has a nice sharp lip to give you the height you need....

If it makes you feel better, we have a lot of MN guys that will be pushing eachother into doing it this year...

In my opinion not about what u hav but what u do with what u have! Just chrome ur balls and hit the wave as late as possible!!!! My few first tries I went way to late....flatlanding a few times im alive and still sackin up b4 each wave and just go as late as possible.....if u dont go ul never know....

Good luck and know u will nail it!

it's more difficult technically to pull one off off a wake and much less exciting.... Your setup will do it... I did one on Petes boat and it was barely running.. (one cylinder) just commit to it fully. It will be ugly at first and ya might not even get past vert the first time, but keep trying... the landings don't hurt as long as you stay w/ the ski

Its all in the technique...your ski has way more than enough power. And a good wake helps wonders.

At the show i was workin in last summer we were doing them with stock 61x motors with only bpipes. We used a v-wake. I wasnt able to get the last 5 degrees to sub the nose and ride out, but I would get like 20ft of air, just not enough rotation. Then another guy I worked with (who couldnt even ride a ski in a straight line any farther than 20ft) would flip that thing like 5 feet of the water and land perfect everytime as long as he was able to make to the wake without falling, But he weighs over 200lbs so I think that helped him whip the thing around.

Just give it a try, fully commit and DONT LET GO

Ive yet to try a backy, will though once the skiboats come out to the lake. I have a question....can any one that does backy relate it to any thing else?? Like a bike, dirtbike, or anything else?? I can back flip most anything I touch, and am not even worried about backin the ski just havent had the chance. I have a huge gymnastics background so makin my body do what I want isnt a big issue.

Is there any body position tips to help speed up revolution or slow it down if needed?? Is pullin your body in closer or pushin out enough to affect the attitude of the ski in rotation?? On the dirtbikes you can use throttle or brake but what when your ona ski??

PS Ive been drinkin,,,,so if this doesnt make sense..Ill edit it tomorrow.....HAHAHA
