Coming From Memphis, should I go down 78 to birmingham and then across 20 to Atlanta and then up?

Or take Highway 72 from Memphis to Decator AL, and then down 65 to Atlanta?

Ive never been down there!

65 does not go through ATL, you may be thinking of 75. Do a map quest thingy, not sure which would be the best.......... run across TN then down through Chattanooga on 75 or through Alabama

sorry, I meant 65 down to Birmingham and then 20 to Atlanta.

Ive been looking at the maps, IM from Corinth, and im dropping my kids off in Memphis for that weekend, but im not real famelier with the route past those points.

Dont want to go down some bumpy curvy road and follow a bunch of agricultural equipment for 288 miles.

thanks for the help!

I live just off of exit 304 on I-65 in cullman AL 35057
I went to Yahoo maps and did beginning address of 35057 and altonna as ending address-IF U CAN-avoid Atlanta!!! If it comes down to it-I will go up to Chatanooga and drop down to GA.

I can go from Memphis to Birmingham and then up 59 NE to highway 411 ( your route from cullman)

Ive never been to atlanta or birmingham.

sorry if these are dumb questions.

hey Mouth, I have been going to Lanier, North ATL for years now, people talk like the traffic is bad, it can be, but We have come through at 5 oclock traffic driving an RV with a 16' enclosed trailer with no problems.......... I would not try to make the trip 30 miles longer just to possible avoid some traffic...............

BUT, they just started to do road construction on 75 North and they will be closing the far right lane for about a 5 mile stretch..When I came home from my lake house 2 weeks ago(on a Saturday afternoon) 75 North was backed up for about 7 miles...It was ugly..I will monitor this situation and keep everyone posted as the time draws near....

hey that helps Jett,

I was comparing routes with the web software, but I didnt think about going thru Nashville, counterintuitive but shorter.

Cool.

We are considering tossing the skis in the back of a truck instead of trailering, seems like once less headache for me at 85mph on the interstate.

Wow did you let Mark44 be your navigator from StLouis to Lake of the Ozarks??? Maybe not since you said 288 miles we were on that road for 4 HOURS

I let him read the map once... JUST ONCE.....

Now I am led by Magellan
