Crank Rebuild opinion

Have any of you ever had your cranks rebuilt by Atlantic Jet sports?
I am debating between having them do my crank or getting a rebuilt from sbt?
What would you do?

Crankworks in rebuilding a 750 big pin crank for me right now.
Might try calling them. But expect a 2-3 week wait

I put a SBT crank is a buddies SXR and was pleased with the crank. I am using a Hot Rods crank in my SJ.

Basically I use the hot rods cranks on rebuilds,when you figure cost on the rebuild and shipping both ways it comes out to about $25.00 more dollars to install a new vs rebuilt crankshaft.The cost of shipping a Hot rods crankshaft is free from my supplier.Now when you figure in the fact that you can sell the cores and some of them bring $35.00 or more a piece it just really dosen't make sense unless there is not a hot rods crank available for what you are building.

No they are not,I wouldn't count on an SBT crank to be trued nicely either and they are usually welded because of sloppy interference fit on the pins from being pressed apart repeatedly,not for any real performance advantage.

welding isnt for performance anyway. its to keep the crank true.

My question had nothing to do with SBT.

I was asking about hot rod cranks, I understand what trueing a crank is and entails, and I also understand what welding a crank is and how its done.

I was simply asking if the hot rod cranks were true and welded!

The guys who use them to build engines, Paul and Chuckie, when youve checked a hot rods crank are they usually pretty true?

I forgot keeping the crankshaft true has nothing to do with performance,my bad,damn you learn something new here every day,glad I came bye today or I would surely have missed that tidbit.:hail: :hail: :haha: :haha:

The ones that I have checked were well within acceptable tolerences.

i don't think hot rods offers a crank for the small pin 750. I could be wrong. If they do i would buy one.
