Handlepole and Hood advice! Sunk

Hey everyone,

I just picked up a 2001 SuperJet. Just a couple things.

1. Anyone know what handlepole this is? It’s metal I don’t have a great picture of it right now.

1.1 Do I replace this with stock or a different pole? I am building it for surf riding and worry about this pole being heavy. I have no specs on it since I don’t know what it is but it just seems heavy

2. It has a Wamilton Freestyle Lowered hood and I think the OEM seal in shot so I have a new one coming but I tipped the ski over near shore to look at the bottom and it filled with water almost instantly.

Anyone have issues with this hood and should I get a stock one or is it probably a seal issue?

Appreciate the help!

Pole is an Aftermarket AC Racing Pole. Nothing wrong with them, just outdated some. If you wanted shorter find an RRP type adjustable pole or XScream Pole.
Hey I was reading your comments on a different thread about the Wamilton freestyle hood. Mine doesn’t have the breather hoses on it. Would that mixed with a bad seal cause the major water ingestion I had?

Here’s the pic from their website I don’t have the black hoses

I’m trying to figure out the water problem with my hood still. I added tubes still took on enough water to get in the motor (stock airbox) I noticed the hood is sitting farther back on the hood seal. It’s not centered.

When I latch the hood down (stock latch and I have what I believe are Wamilton hood hooks) the whole thing moves backwards. Brand new hood seal but maybe the fact it’s not sitting centered on the seal it’s getting water in there?

Hood is sitting back on the seal, eh? Sounds like a photo is in order. Moves back when latched? More photos. Mysterious hook hooks? Photos would help. Hopefully there's an obvious theme here.

I hope not. I’ll upload some pictures as soon as I get home. New ski to me so not really sure. Just threw on a new hood seal but can’t keep water out.
Always post pics of the issues! Most of the guys on here have been there done that and like the saying, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Another tool for diagnosing hood leaks is the paper tear test. Latch the hood down on paper and see how hard it is to pull out. I use parchment paper and am not satisfied if it pulls out at all, it should tear first.
