MS 109 Experience

Anyone have any experience running MS 109 from VP Racing? I want to switch away from leaded gas in fear of the health consequences. Plus apparently it is "highly oxygenated" to make more power?

Please let me know your thoughts. Also, is it ethanol free?

Yes but there are a few things you should know , it has to be stored in the can it comes in , as soon as you pour it into a plastic gas jug or your fuel tank it starts loosing octane , basically mix it up and ride all the gas out of it, it does not store at all, most guys mix it up at the site where they are riding it at , not mix it up at home and transport to the site.

The other thing is it requires jetting changes since it is an oxygenated fuel , so that means you pretty much can't run regular gas in it and expect it to run properly on it .

I personally haven't run it , this info was garnered from the guys I used to ride with and several of them ran it , they did the research on it and this is what they were told so the info should be quite reliable .

I would think you'd have to jet it on the richer side, right? Since there's more oxygen, it needs more fuel to match would be my guess

Yes exactly , it's not a drastic jetting change but for sure there is one

Not sure how much healthier another race fuel will be but..Oxygenated fuel is a pretty significant power increase. I've done back to back. Vp113 isn't as oxygenated as ms109 so just screw changes were enough though. Quite possibly could need a jet change with ms109.

I only need to run 50/50 pump gas & MS 109. I'm hoping screw changes will be enough for my SE 50mm ninja carbs that are already on the rich side

My info came from Art Gomez , I am just relaying what Charles told me which is what Art told him, take that for what it is worth .

I don't think I would spend the money for MS109 then dilute it down with pump gas , you are adding a lot of unknowns into the equation that don't need to be there and paying for something that you won't be getting, If you are going to dilute it use VP 113 .

Half oxygenated = half a$$ed

I doubt just screws are going to be enough of a change. . .

Race gas is for high compression, I would have thought that much was assumed already.

We ran MS109 for approx 7 years on our freestyle skis, yes jetting needs to be adjusted ( higher ) we had great experineces with it , at that time we could buy the 5 Gallon Jug for $ 54 now its $ 115 in our area .... the worst part is that the smell was highly addictive ...no joke , I loved it. And be supper carful this stuff is super flammable ....
avoid spills especially inside engine bay :0) .......

Is it true that once you open it, you have to use it right away?

As long as it is inside the drum it comes in you are good, once you pour it in your fuel jug or in the ski , yes you do have to run it right away, it starts losing octane from that point , It had something to do with the fuel tanks and jugs being permeable .
