hi i just noticed some exhaust coming out of my pissers when running my ski out of the water and im assuming that my head gasket is starting to fail...

my question is what gasket to use?...

i have a 701 top end out of a raider..stock head not milled i believe( i guess ill find out when i pull the head)..
its bored to 730 so do i need to get a gasket that matches the bore or will a stock one work ok???

thanks

Drill & tap another hole hole for a second pisser on the front of the head, letting it squirt overboard. That will help with your cooling flow. I had the same problem.....

Both, I think.
It was strange, I still got even compression even though the head gasket was burned through and the metal ring around it was cracked. It was blowing smoke/steam out of the pisser also. I hooked up the second line coming off the front of the head for the water to come out of, replaced the burned head gasket, and it never happened again.
Just pull the head and check it out. I would also lap (sand it with emory cloth a on glass or marble surface) the gasket surface of the head before putting it back on also to make sure it is flat & smooth. I also rub some grease or oil on the gaskets so they don't stick & come off easy the next time you take it apart.

Do you have a pipe on the ski? If so you will get exhaust out the pisser from the water injection holes in the head pipe while running the ski out of the water.

Eh....I got exhaust coming out my pissers all the time. Not sure if a stock pipe would do it.

yea i got a bpipe

my concerns are more if the oem head gasket will fit my bore...how much room does the oem gasket leave for bores??.thats why im hesitant to remove the head i dont want to destroy the gasket if thats not the problem and an oem one wont work...some of you bigboreguys have to know

I believe the OEM gaskets come in different overbore sizes. The head itself is good for overbores (up to 83mm, not entirely sure), but the gasket may need to be sized appropriately.
Hopefully a pro will chime in.

my 750sx blows exhaust out the stock pisser with a stock exhaust while running out of water. in the water, it blow a little exhaust until the pipe fills with water and then only blows water. after you cut it off after riding, it will blow steam as water in the pipe boils off.

I thought this was normal. Am I wrong???
