Anti Covid Virus Nonsense Thread

So we have the Virus Nonsense Thread. For sharts and giggles, how about a thread on some good things that have come out of this pandemic. I'll start: (and please let's keep all the political BS outta here)

Working from home and saving big bucks on gas for the pig of a daily driver I have with a 6.2L
I get way more done WFH. No yappy co-workers and my internet speed is twice as fast as being in the office.
Got $1200 Trump Bucks that I didn't even need (but I'll keep it)
Got $$ back from my Auto insurance provider.
Saving huge bucks from not dining out now, especially on drinks. No more $14 margaritas. Still getting take out to support my favorite haunts of course.
Yards in my neighborhood look great this year. People get bored or sick of hanging inside with their SO and go outside and do yard work.
Spending way more time with my best friend Tobey. (My dog)
Been buying more groceries(produce, meats, dairy, bread) from local farm stands instead of the grocery store. Quality of everything is off the charts better, and there will be 6 people shopping not 600.
I can ride the SJ or do some fishing during lunch.
I look pretty hunky in my JetTribe lycra face mask.

Next?

Getting caught up on house projects. I paid $1.35 a gallon for premium gas at the Indian Reservation. Been grilling just about everyday. Put new security lights up on the house and garage. I got the ok to ride my ski on my friends pond, just waiting for the water to warm up a little.20190427_173041.jpg

2 weeks ago gas was at the mid 80 cents per gallon mark at the "Rez". Crazy cheap fuel, no commute into work since all of us teachers are off, tons of extra time to get caught up on all of my landscaping and work around my house, my Blaster triple build, and other projects. Also, because fuel is so cheap it's SO inexpensive to drive somewhere and grab a Craigslist deal................like my latest addition, my SN Superjet with a 62T/61X and Factory B pipe.

Mark, let's just hope the weather warms up here soon because this COLD and WET Spring is turning out to be a repeat of last year's weather.

Self employment has been interesting during this time.l stopped on or around April 16 actively seeking (plain old sales work) new work because it involves seeing and being in public places. So just relying on phone and text messages from clients.Which has surprised me,because my numbers haven’t been that far off. This may be the way l continue till l decide to retire. But it has helped being able to do some turf jobs and repair work on skis.Which l either did in the evenings or weekends. We also keep a good sized garden and helping the Mrs. has been great.Been selling some

As l have said before,l take the virus seriously.

And thanks for starting this thread.More positive than negative which is exactly what we all need in this new Normal.

It will be really interesting to see how things change once all is said and done. How may current practices will remain even after things go back to "normal".

The internet is full of doom and gloom but honestly, despite the hit to the economy, most people I run into seem far more relaxed, even the ones that are suffering financially. Almost like this was a huge opportunity for people to just take a step back and actually catch their breath.

Given the time to think about their next move, the movers and shakers of this world are poised to explode once the gates are opened again and I think we are going to come out of this strengthened and renewed.

What "new normal" trend do you hope sticks around?
- lower fuel prices for sure!
- Working from home?
- Remote Schooling?
- Curbside pickup?
- Social distancing?

Not a lot has changed for me except not having my weekly Thursday night Wings. I don't go out too often, unless it's right after work with co-workers or friends are in town.

I've just been getting everything ready for summer. Boating and fishing with dog and wife, jet skiing, picking up garbage, got back into RC and built a track down near the river bottoms. Gonna tune up the bikes for the trails. Cancelled my Canada Fishing Trip, but we ended up having a river chicken fry two weeks ago(socially distanced).

I'm not really saving much on gas money, since I would be riding my Moped this time of year. I'm sick of working from home. I don't like my mixing the two. WFH is great for a day or two, but then I want to go see people. I'm NOT an introvert. I am a programmer who stares at computer screens all day and it gets old. We work in health care and this has been crazy busy for us with no end in sight. We have had some happy hour skype calls to socially interact.

House prices are falling, the wife and I are happy about that. We are planning to buy end of the summer.

Bike shops are having their best 2 months ever!

Im the mechanic at the local bike shop, IT'S INSANE!!! We shortened our hours and aren't letting people in the store. Im only working when we are "closed" and boy am I whipping through some bikes! No customers, No phone calls, No distractions. Plus I get to spend more time with my family and pup. She's getting pretty old almost 15 and been a little sick lately so Im glad we have time to just lay in the grass and stuff... IMG_6588.jpg

I've been a stay at home dad for 3.5 years now. Our bank account hasn't been healthy but our son is and that's enough for us. This shutdown has allowed our savings to climb back up to pre parent status. I cut grass and do small engine repair in the evening/weekends. I don't advertise or solicit but have been overwhelmed with work this spring. Skis, boats, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, mowers, blowers, tillers..etc. Social life was pretty much non existent already. Truck hardly moves unless it's launching a boat.

Ive been working from home, and my savings account has never been bigger! I get to spend all day with my ol girl, Dakota. Shes 13.5 and really slowing down so Im fortunate to spend all this time with her.

I also live on the lake, and upgraded my boat, so ive been on the water pretty much everyday, and the single life has been treating me very, very well! The lakehouse and boat are starting to pay dividends!

It's funny you mention the single life. I can't imagine going thru this if I was still married. Just being honest here, but once we became empty nesters, my then wife and I could hardly fill the dead air during the evenings back when I was at the office 60 hours a week, and we only saw each other 3 hours a day. That should have clued me in to what was coming I suppose.
