SJ IMPELLER REPLACEMENT

I want to replace the impeller on my RN SJ. I have never done it before and I am seeking some advice. First, is there anything else I need to replace when installing a new impeller? Wear ring? Maybe someone can tell me how mine looks based on the photos I attached.

What do you recommend for replacements? The ski is stock right now with a protech moflo intake grate. I ride flat water, race around buoys with friends, jump wakes etc. Any info is appreciated.

Any stainless impeller is going to work alot better than that one. Find a used swirl impeller like a 9/15 hooker or equivalent or an oem 08+ impeller work great too and you will a different ski!! Your wear ring is probably ok

Will I lose a bunch on the top end going with a hooker 9/15? Deffinetly want some more punch at the bottom to help boost over waves but don't want to sacrifice too much mid/top range for racing around buoys.

No they have good top end with a stock motor and work great. Although may be better in a mag pump due to the larger hub I have never ran a hooker in a stock pump before. Your best bet would be to ask Dave at Impros if you want to spend the money he will make you happy. If you could find a good 08+ impeller for cheap you would not be disappointed and could save money for a Bpipe ;)

I swapped out that aluminum garbage for an 08+ OEM stainless impeller I bought from a member here. It's cheap, and works really well for my stock ski.

Didn't change the wear ring as my ski was low hour and the impeller clearance was in spec with the new prop.

I just needed the prop and prop tool, it was pretty straightforward otherwise. Best $100 I've spent in a while.

You only change wear ring when it is worn out. this does not happen often. Dave will most likely tell you a 10/16 Hooker. The 9/15 will run out about 44 mph or so. Skat has some props on clearance for $99.00 These are older design Super Slimline. They have a 14.5-18.5 which would work well if you have a pipe. Might want to get them to pitch it down to 14/18 if you have a stock engine setup.
