Intake grate made turning difficult

I bought a worx 201 and took it out today and ski was way harder to get it to release and spin around, I feel like it was funner with the stock grate. Are these am grates really only beneficial I’m surf? I only ride flat water really. I have stock steering so maybe that’s not helping it much

Keep it for the free ride. There are aftermarket ones that are a little more efficient and stronger than stock that keep the pump loose.

Try rocking the 201 longer and getting your weight more forward. My rear sponsons hooked up very hard but once I got used to them I could get it loose if I needed too.

It’s an easy part to change so it’s nice to have options. Intakes, plates and rear sponsons are parts that are great for giving a little customability to your ride with little effort. Say you have some racers invite you out for the day, slap that 201 back on.

I'm guna give it a couple rides and see what happens. I took it out yesterday and I can get the back end to whip around but I'm definitely having to be super agro and throw all my weight forward. Just cut the pole 3" too so getting used to everything. Worst case I can put stock back on and either sell worx or just keep it incase I take it to the ocean

You can also try a shorter steering before you cut more. I have a Jetlabs OVP I won in a raffle with a RRP straight bar. My pole is -3 and with the steering and bars my hands are about another -3 on top of that.

Yeah ive been looking at steering systems and haven't decided. I was planning on straight bars but not sure if i should get an OVP or just a cold fusion quick steer type setup. Ive realized the steering on these 08+ really suck. I rode an old square nose the other day and was amazed at how easily it whipped around, especially considering how under powered it was. I might have to do that cable conversion first
