I weighed my 01 Hull with not a single thing bolted to it, freshly refoamed, and reinforced front and back. It came in at 120lbs.
So, a non-reinforced stocker should weigh slightly less than that.

My buddies reinforced, refoamed, footholds and nothing else came to 109 lbs, he used alot of DOW blue foam to refoam it because it is lighter than pour in 2 part. he also cut 2 1/2 inches off the back and grinded every last bit of excess glue and rids off. Smitty did his hull and came in under 100 lbs i think 92 lbs with no reinforcing. he can ride and doesn't under rotate. my squarenose came in at 120 lbs reinforced heavily, some dow foam, footholds and handlepole bracket.

I think many people don't have the proper or accurate scale when they weight their hulls. any OEM under 100 lbs is questionable!

And I plain don't see potential for that much weight variation from hull to hull.

sorry smitty's ski was 96 lbs on a very accurate scale, me and steve weighed in on the same bathroom scale so i'll give or take a couple pounds, It is easy to shed some weight if you use dow but at a sacrafice for your hull's strength. Steve's ski has held up to 3 seasons with dow foam. 2 part foam cans weigh 10 lbs each and depending on temps and density and moisture you can use alot of those cans if your doing it in the winter which is going to be close to 14-16 lbs vs 3 lbs of dow foam. there is weight to be shed of a stock hull if you take the time to do it.http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/7823&highlight=smitty

what is dow foam?
I would think you need to hang the ski from a big game scale to get a ture weight, not a bathroom scale,

I've weighed two different squares and they were about 110lbs on the bathroom scale of course. Stripped with out the hood.

steve did you have foam in them or where they stripped and ready for new foam? Dow foam is the blue rigid foam that is used in construction. It is insulation foam but is doesn't absorb water. Tests have been done:sneaky: you have to spend alot of time cutting it to fit and then pound it in so its tight, also, you must still use the 2 part expanding foam to fill in the voids that you don't get with the dow. It cuts down on the amount of 2 part you need but is not recommended by many because it takes away from the overall rigidity of the hull. :dunno: Foul language flys out of my mouth any time i've carried smitty's lightened stock hull because you can really notice it when you lift it. something to consider if you want a light stock hull, just know that it will not be as strong as the pour in 2 part foam. I think its fine for flatwater hulls.

we have seen a company on commercial jobsites that spay that foam on site, it is blue dow and they fill voids and spray it on walls, I looked to see if they had it in cans but i got nothing. it would be so cool to show up to a jobsite with a hull ready to foam and have them pour that dow foam in.

Damn! i guess it makes sence for my ski, i reinforced the sides, nose, and under the bracket area. I used carbon kevlar too for the first time and went to heavy on the resin which just adds unwanted weight. 10lbs of reinforcement doesn't seem too bad on a hull with a 2' crack on the bondline i guess. I am trying to make it back up here and there so the ski is not heavier than a stocker. I think i'll be good.
