So ive had my RN SJ for about 10 months so far, bought it bone stock with a 701 raider motor and carbon reinforced. I have come a long way with mods because lets face it, I got the standup fever and constantly wanted more power. (AM hull is coming soon)
now please don't take me for an idiot who doesn't know anything, just bare with me
Basically if my pump comes unhooked and I hit the throttle it doesn't kick up like it would if the pump was loaded, now obviously this makes sense because the pump now has to load up before it can produce as much thrust. Now here is where my question lays, every time in the past I have read about people doing tricks and what not the phrase "'get the pump unhooked" comes into play. Now I remember hearing that a lot but cant see the reason for wanting to unhook the pump right before a trick, maybe someone can clarify.
Also I ride in the bay where the AVERAGE boat is 35-40 feet, we have a lot of smaller 25 footers and the pretty common 45-65 foot boat that comes by. so you can imagine how choppy it can get at times, if I go to hit a boat wake and its choppy and I come unhooked, if I nail the throttle I basically have to avoid any trick with the lack of thrust.
Can someone shed some light if I should consider a mag pump with my setup.
or possibly my bpipe not tuned for low end enough. other than that if the pump stays hooked up the low end is good but still feel like I'm not getting the full potential of my set up, but carbs seem to be tuned perfect
set up is as follows (only going to list the basic handling and power mods)
Raider 701 62t dual 38s
Dual Cooling
ADA 35cc 180psi head
Factory bpipe ltd with fcv
Lightened Flywheel
Msd Enhancer with oem coil
Stock Ride plate
worx 201 intake
9/15 Hooker
Aluminum pump shoe
That's what I can think of at the moment
With all of these should i look into a mag pump for the choppy water I ride in? if there is a big boat and theres no chop I can hit the wake pretty good but the second my pump unhooks or I try going slow to set up for the wake and I come unhooked I basically have to bail hitting the wake
