Stock airbox nipple question

Hey guys

On the stock dual carb air box there are 4 nipple fittings that go straight into the throat body of the carbs

I have one on the front side for my primer but my question is should the other 3 be capped

I'd assume yes because that would be pulling air instead of just pulling air through the flame arrestors

I put caps on them but haven't ran it with them on yet

They are just below the flame arrestors

Absolutely cap them. You can actually twist the one out that has the 90* fitting and plug it with epoxy or JB Weld. Much cleaner.

I know that whenever I accidentally pulled my primer line off it would lean rev, I just couldn't figure out why it didn't race up with those other 3 unplugged

Pretty sure after I plugged them the ski started stalling out on low end

Can't figure out why because I rebuilt carbs and put everything to factory spec

What is your setup? B pipe, stock pipe? Also, what is your jetting and what are your h/s and l/s settings?

All stock 701 raider motor dual 38s
Everything is bone stock with exception of Msd coil, which I'm changing soon
Rear high is 1 1/2 front high 1 1/4 lows both at 1 turn out
67.5 low and 130 high

70 pilot is stock. May be a little lean so try turning the pilot out about a 1/2 turn and see what it does. What n/s are you running?

If it's before the carbs, it can't cause an air leak and make the engine run up.

I tried the low screws anywhere from 1/2 turn out to 2 1/2 turn out

Those nipple fittings are after flame arrestor bit before carb

4 of them but one is for primer

But plugs are wet

Wonder if that lessens air restriction a bit pulling more air through those fittings
