92mph on RXP - love the sound!

Those guys over there crack me up. They are OBSESSED with speed numbers. Nothing wrong with that. I should join and put in my signature as:

1993 Yamaha SuperJet 633. 37.4 mph

Is it true that a Yamaha GP hull is that much better (faster?) than a RX hull?

I am sure they say the same thing about us. LOL

No doubt about that. To each his own. As long as they don't start bragging about how many tubers they can tow, I'm cool with those guys.

Regardless of GPS verified or not, I give major props to that guy. Going that fast with a (relatively) small jet drive with a (relatively) small displacement motor is an accomplishment.

I guess instead of Brap I should just say Rumble?

I would say 73-75 tops!! Even if that thing had 500hp you are still limited by the hull and the pump, even with a really tall prop, can only move so much water.

I'd say allow a little BS speed for the GPS, but I dont doubt it. With a different pump (which I think he used) you could make it work. He did a couple runs, and showed another one of those on video.

If one were to be really anal, you could take the length of the RXP, see how many 'boat-lengths' he ran when passing the camera, and then use that distance divided by the time to get his 'true' velocity (give or take)

Two things.

2. It doesnt matter becasue it was in the glove box and would have lost signal shortly after he shut the lid.

my gps does not lose signal through a thin piece of plastic. Does your GPS work in your house? If it does then what would prevent it from working in the glove box?

I agree that it does not seen to be doing 92 but what a hella sound.

That ski sounds killer! But I would disagree with 92 mph. I don't think that ski has hull speed over 75-80.

that hull has been proven to be in the 80's on numerous occasions, riva's stage III kit has been radared at 80+ on numerous occasions. and they make a bigger pump for it as well so there goes that arguement

for comparison, a heavier ski (supercharged 15F built by Judge Motorsports) has been radared at 92 as welln and that thing is 100 lbs' heavier than the rxp

That was Emrinio's 15F, they broke it out at Lake Norman....... It made his other 15F look like a joke!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, it is true.
The Yamaha GPR hull is great for top speed, very stable and doesn't get screwy when you hit chop or side wakes.

agreed but the four strokes have the better engine development right now, that guy out in arizona with the rxp motor in the gpr had it right... best of both worlds, i would like to ride that beast to see how it handles

You are correct.
The GPR is still king of top speed but the 4 strokes are getting damn close.

Hydros GPR/RXP hybrid was hitting 80MPH with a relatively stock motor, that motor would have a hard time breaking 73MPH in an RXP hull.
The down side to all this is cost.

To get a GPR into the high 70's low 80's can be done for a fraction of what it takes an RXP.

No mine does not work in my house and does not work in my car unless it is on the dash. It sometimes gets poor reading duct taped to the glove box lid since the bars and your body get in the way of the signal. Is it broken? Its been that way since day one and I bought it brand new.It is the same model the guy is using. Garmen E-Trex.

Im not trying to rain on anyones parade. I know those speed are obtainable on the RXP but just not convinced that GPS reading is accurate.
