Prop question

I was just wondering what was some of your opinons on a prop for a free style superjet. B pipe head dual 44. Obsiviously looking for bottom and mid range more bottom though. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

I'm running a Skat Swirl 12/17 on my roundnose that has a bpipe, ada head, and dual 38's and it has awesome low end snap. I am very happy with it.

Just posted on the other site but here's a cut and paste:
Solas or Skat 13/16, 13/17 or 13/18 cutback seem to be the preference for low end freestyle punch with the pipe and head. Make sure you have a deep grate to compliment the prop.

Alright since ive been on these boards ive always know this "Solas or Skat 13/16, 13/17 or 13/18" but how about break those down? Is the 13/16 for a lower HP motor and the 13/18 higher, what would be the basic engine mods for those categories, ive always kinda wondered.

My understanding is that if you have mild porting and higher compression, the 13/16 is the choice. The 13/18 seems to me will equate to lower torque. Which is the absolute best for any given setup? Man, I wish I knew! A lot of time and money could be saved,:banghead:

There is no best for any given setup. Each setup will have different power and power delivery.
What prop is ideal for your boat is personal preference. Do you like low end snap at the trade of top speed? Do you like both?

I run a Skat Swirl 13/18 which provides me with better bottom end than a Concord 13/16 and much better top end than that Concord. Very happy with the Swirl.

Matt, I have not had the chance to run that Concord in my B1 yet but i did install a Skat 14/18 cutback Super Slim in my SJ and am pleased with the pull. It's a tough call what is best. Sometimes good is good enough!

so in this case a wider gap like a 13-18 provides more bottom end that a narrow gap like 13-16??

Hey fly,I used to have the blue blaster you bought from danny. I also have a 06 black superjet and have the same setup but have not bought a prop.wondering some more details on the prop does snap hard out of the water.

so the wider the numbers of the pitch mean better bottom end, but you also
need to take in consideration for hp and pump size to allow it to work together

best all around freestyle snap for a motor that has advent, ada head, b-pipe,
and later some nice set of carbs.

I've heard from a few reliable sources that legdrag's magnum impeller is the best for low end snap and has the highest water velocity at top end. I keep hearing it here and there but not many people acknowledge/know/have tried it. I'm going to try it if I ever get some spending cash, as I'm sure the 14.5/18.5 in my ski isnt the best prop for a 200 lb guy.

Egor, your spending all that cash and its not ported!?

Cool:biggthumpup: I remember meeting you at Dunedin. I cant wait to get an engine in that blaster. You going to Daytona?

As far as the Swirl goes I am very very happy with mine. It has amazing low end snap.

Im running a bpipe, ada head(35cc domes), worx201, and a few other things and that prop works well with it. You really need to ride my ski. A buddy of mine (Wahoo_1) has an identical setup to me with a bpipe, ada head, msd ingnition, lightened flywheel, freestyle porting, and a cutback Solas Concord and I honestly think my ski has better low end snap. His ski obviously pulls harder, but I really think my ski is much snappier off the bottom. Hope that helps.

My ski is setup with 180 psi compression, Speedwerx freestyle pipe, and MDS. I also have a 85.5mm exit nozzle, worx intake grate, a freestyle cone and a concord 13/16 setback. My ski is still faster than a stock SXR on top end by maybe 1 or 2 MPH. Which is no good in my book.. I would like to have that extra speed converted to power.

So just just for reference....If I had it to do again I would be getting a cutback 12/15 or something like that. I would easily trade 5 MPH top end for more low end hit. What ever the lowest pitch Dave at Impros would cut for me (taking into account his knowledge).

I have 2 options for my ski, which is better. Its an '06sj with westcoast head (I think 180psi) and a protec F series pipe. I have a 10-18 skat and a 14-18 superslim skat. Currently running an 8-16 skat while stock and it works awesome.

I've heard that the 14-18 superslim is actually supposed to be a pretty good freeride prop. Give it a whirl.
