Only thing I can say is that I had a turn key KDX built by Xscream in my shop with your exact set-up and it had a 148. No expense was spared on this built so I can only assume that the 148 was the best pump option for that set-up. It was mentioned earlier and I have to agree, the guys at Xscream are definitely going to know what works best.

Freakrider, did you buy the Orange KDX from my customer Darren? If so you probably can already see on the ride plate where it has been ground to fit a 155.

Yes bought it from Darren, yep it has the ride plate ground.

I changed my vote. I have a oem 155 complete with trim setup for sale cheap. Just sayin. Maybe add a tbm stuffer and call it good enough? :)
Ha ha, I have a complete 155 oem with trim that I might have modded by Skat. Some guys in the OEM 155 pump thread claim good results but I'm looking for optimum. Probably a big hub prop and a TBM would still make for FW flips.

Well the pump tunnel on the KDX/DVX can feed a 163mm pump. My KDX hull was a turnkey for Jason Bleasdale, with a 162 or 163mm pump in and a 1200XS engine.
I ran a OEM 155 pump last year with a DASA SS 850 and that hit very hard for a "small" underrated engine with that pump.
Now its feeder by a Skat-Trak 155mag with a TPE900CO to push it.
No question if you ask me, 155 OEM or 155 mag. Depending on your budget. A friend an knowledge rider and mechanic told me he did back to back testing with a 148mag vs 155 OEM and got a good gain with the OEM 155 over the 148mag ;)

That's crazy if a 155 oem outperformed a 148 mag. I will say, a B2 does have good take off power.

Id say if you have a 148 already then run that. but if you dont have a pump at all, get a skat 155. I am running a tpe1105 with all the goodies and a 148 setback skat. no issues with hook up.

Remember though that a 155 OEM is not a "cheap" alternative. I'm in quite a lot with mine. $300 wear ring, $300 impeller, $400 pump cone, and you need a reduction nozzle. You can get thrust trim for $800 or one off a B2 or gp1200. And then what ever you paid for the stator.

I always ask a bunch of questions before making any recomendation like this. I had a KDX with 1100 DASA 16mm, 1105 TPE, 148 MAXX, SKAT, and Torrent. Now DVX with same TPE 1105 but now with 155 mag. Hull and motor combo is much lighter and i feel pump tunnel better on this ski and i had sold all my 148 parts before this purchase, as i knew i wanted a 155. If the 148 shoe is in it, run it. If you are competing, then go to 155, it will make a difference. If time and money are not an issue or if you have 155 parts, then go 155. To me any 1000CC or smaller motor is fine with a 148, but there are gains to be had from changing to a 155 for sure. The Havoc competition crew are all running 155 mags with their 900C TPE's. For 99% of us, were just doing some FW tricks and riding, does it really matter? That being said, i'm never putting a 148 in my DVX. :)

Well i guess some of the japanese engineers did R&D on this whole pumps vs engine sizes. And i guess theres a reason that a 760cc is pushing a 155mm pump in a WB2. I really don't think its fair to say "any motor under 1000cc will be fine with a 148" same as saying anything under 850cc will be fine with 38 mikunis.
Why not get most efficiency out of the gear you got?
As for the 155 OEM setup, you can find pretty good deals on complete drive trains, thats what i did. Only thing to be aware of, is that you need a custom drivesahft +15mm. If you use your SJ 96-07 OEM driveshaft, the spline engagement will be 15mm less of what its supposed to.

I ended up putting my SJ shaft in and like you said I'm missing almost half my engagement. I had to push my midshaft down further and put a spacer on it.

I bought a complete GP1200, 155 pump for 130.00 with trim. Thinking of getting a JM 155 skat and use my oem 155 as core. If I found a used XS148 skat, two ears, that uses the XS metal ring it would be alot easier to run. I need to remove the XS metal ring off the pump shoe which is black plastic oem like maybe a B2 shoe. It will probably ruin the pump shoe. Here is a pic, zoom in shoe.20150722_203618.jpg
