So i started working on putting my waterdawg holds in yesterday. How mcuh epoxy do i need to install them. Or how much do you guys use when you do your footholds. Kinda short on cash for this project so i dont really wanna buy more than i need. So like 1/2 gallon or so of eposy resin?

yea they are a pain. when i talked to him he said you get the cut out right so they fit. you then epoxy and screw/rivet the front where the flange is, then before it dries duct tape the rear where the ankle cut out is so it gets pulled into the hull, and it seals the seams on the bottom. after the front has set up, drill a hole on the top of the hold on the hull and pour foam in slowly so it doesn't overexpand and pop the hold out. this will act like glue and hold the hold in place. he said he takes a grinder and grinds the hold into the hull so every thing is flush and then puts fiberglass over that using the foam as a shape. but in the back make sure you use a few good layers of glass b/c there is no epoxy or rivets or screws.

thats what he told me more or less. did you screw the front and glass the back? more or less?

Well,
I started mine on the bottom with some glass and than cut and pulled them in once the bottom was solid.
I guess the foam would have made it much easier but I just glassed over the gaps in the back while I held the top in with a clamp.
It wasn't so bad but than I never installed any other ones before.

When I find another hull (that I will go nuts on) I will try the foam trick for the next set of REVs.

yea idk how i am gonna go about it just yet.

So you are saying that you haven't installed them yet ?
What are you waiting for ????

It's not all that bad, the first time I put them in (I had them in than decided to rip the tray apart) it took me the weekend while I was constantly interrupted with service calls.

The turf is another story, I hate that stuff.

I think you'll be ok if you put down a layer or two of epoxy/cloth around the entire edge. Sand real good of course. (sand/grind all the way though whatever gel coat or paint is on the hull when you really need a bond)
