Other I am new and need some info

Hello fellow riders!

I live in Melbourne Florida, and I recently met became friends with this guy and he is into riding and doing tricks. I am intrigued and would love to venture into the sport! I do not have a lot of experience riding stand-ups and I do not know the first thing about what products are good or not good (except he told me no Kawasaki). So my question to you experts out there, What make model year should i look into for a beginner such as myself and how much money am I going to be looking to spend? Would 1500-2000 be a joke? Thank you for taking the time to read. Please be gentle on me :)

sadly prices can vary greatly for whole skis...

Florida prices are slightly on the high side.. but nothing compared to the West coast.

stock or lightly modded square nose is gonna run you $1000-1500 in your area..

a heavily modded square might be a little more in the $2000-3000 range..

I would like to spend 1000-1500 as i am new and dont want to go all out and then realize its not for me

Thanks! is that a decent price you think I might be able to get him down to 2000-2500?

It isnt a terrible price, with a trailer included. It is always kind of nice to have a completely stock, unmolested ski to start with....USUALLY less headaches.

Give the guy a call and talk business.

your not going to find much for that price that doesnt need work, and needing work is an easy way for someone to get discouraged and leave the sport in a hurry

Ya I can understand that. the one linked is a great deal just a little out of my price range atm, thats why i was thinking an earlier model

Right I understand. My buddy did tell me its not a cheap hobby

Its not, but if you buy smart the first year or 2 can be kept under control. Spending a little more up front on a turn key ski lets you spend time learning to ride rather than learning to fix. Once you learn to ride you will be hooked and then the costs spiral out of control with upgrades and AM hulls and what not.

That makes sense. By the way thanks for all the replies guys, not only great info but FAST really appreciate it!

No problem, lots of good info and good people here. The search function isnt the best, but if you go on google and add "x-h2o.com" at the end of your search parameters your results will be much better. Search and read as much as you can, there are lots of beginer info threads, just start browsing around and become a sponge.

With your budget your looking for a clean stock 91-95 superjet, refered to as a square nose. preferably with a 701 in it, but a 650 will do to learn on. you want something as cleand and stock as you can find. If it is modified make sure its clean and done right, you don't want to buy someone elses headache.
