650sx taking on water

Ok, so over the summer I rode my 650 a few times and it ran great but was taking on water. I pulled the stock bilge, cleaned it and put it back on and this did not solve the issue. Today I pulled the engine and as I was doing so I noticed this was not plugged into anything. It is above where the bilge is plugged into the Hull. Was hoping this could possibly be my problem.

the 650's came with three lines going to the pump.

One for supply water
One for return water
one for a bilge.

If you aren't running a stock pipe then you don't use the return. Either plug it up or use it as a dual cooling line.

That will definitely fill your boat with water.

X2 as stated above.

Also the water return line from exhaust pipe elbow connects to a thru hull tube that goes thru the bulk head and does not connect to anything in the pump area. This tube can be capped off if your not using the stock pipe, or you can utilize this thru hull tube in a dual cooling set up if you tap the pump and exhaust manifold with a second cooling fitting each.

The water in line from the side of your pump stator section should connect to a barbed fitting on the lower part of your exhaust manifold

The bilge line connects to the reduction nozzle, for reference the steering nozzle is connected to the reduction nozzle and then the reduction is connected to the pump stator section

You don't want the water in line from pump connected to that exhaust elbow water out line or you'll flood the engine internally with water

Make sure the top plastic elbow on the bilge hose has a pinhole vent. If it doesnt or if clogged water will siphon back into the hull.

I will look for all of this...I think the previous owner must've upgraded the exhaust and didn't do anything with the return line ( it is inbetween the two tubes in the hull for the Bilge )

Thank you all

I can't remember, It might be visible in one of my pictures I have at home? I think what you are asking is which thru hull tube is the water return. You can take a flash light and look from the back of the ski into the pump area and verify each line and tube........
Normally the return tube has no hose connected to it in the pump area.......

Basically when I pulled the pipe and everything off I found the water return pipe still connected to the hull but it was not plugged into anything ( I have a aftermarket pipe setup on it from p/o ) and I assume he didn't know to cap this. It is tied in between the elbow that is setup for the stock bilge.
