Which carb is best for a ported 61x ?

I have a 61x in my square that I recently had the following done to it.
bored to 83mm, cases ported, top end ported, b-pipe ported.
I am running a 44mm carb and it runs great!!!! , but I am thinking I can get some more power from this motor if I put a bigger single carb or duel carbs. I ride mainly in surf btw. I appreciate any opinions on this. thanks

Most may say go for a SBN 46 , perferably on a wetjet manifold. This will compliment that increased bore and port job. I perfer single carb over dual especially in the surf but to each his own. I have a maniac ported 735 setup on my 61x too. I currently have a single 44 on the bpipe. But am thinking about sending my 44 off to jetworks and having Art set it up. He modded some 44s on another ski last year for me and it is soo smooth and dialed in. This was after i had many people tell me to run dual 46s or even 48s.. after speaking with Art he told me his blackjack 44s would not dissapoint!

-For the price your going to pay for a 46 and a wetjet mainfold, or even a dual protec or R&D with used carbs and rebuild kits.. you could spend far less and have a nice carb from Art, Good Luck I'd be interested to see how it works out. -JW

I agree with what's already stated. I run a 46SBN on my engine with the wetjet intake and carbon reeds. Jetted correctly it has awesome throttle response and a lot of power. Mine is also ported. I opened up the intake and opened up thd bpipe as well. Strong setup IMO

I run a single 44 on my ported 61X and she runs great and is very dialed in. Curious about using a wetjet intake. Can't you just bore the existing intact out 2mm to match the 46?

Can you guys speak a little more to the boring out the bottom of the carb as well? Can this be done to a 44 to make the bottom a 46?

Todd LeChance use to build Rick Roys motors. He based his setup using a single carb setup on 62t cases. Stouter use to run same setup in the early to mid 2000's. I ran it for a season or two. It worked really well. The carb was an 44mm carb with the area below the butterfly bored to 48mm. This setup is great for Flatwater. Not great for wot runs though.

Would moving a 46 up to a 48 make much of a difference? I run an odd motor set up with 61x ported cases to fit 64x(760) cylinder sleeves. I have only light porting on the cylinders but have them bored a full 1mm over. So technically I am running a 787. I know the port timing is different but curious if a 48 would feed the beast better than the 46 would.

prosouth, if you dont mind, could you share your jetting specs? Thanks -JW
I actually run "reverse" jetting, but wound up coming down to a 135/135. I think I'm a tad rich, but it's been to cold to screw with it. It rips, thd plugs are just a tad darker than what I'd like. I actually lovd this setup, and if I rode surf everyday, it wouldn't be for sale.
