Super Jet Porting, high compression, msd enhancer, cooling, reliability.. Need some advice

Alright, I need some advice on some mods.
Here's some background about me and my ski:
My ski is a 95 sn superjet with a 61x 701 in it. Right now, here's the only performance mods : factory b pipe limited chamber, 9/15 hooker prop, worx 201,d cut flush ride plate, adjustable rev limiter.
I am completely concerned about reliability, but I am of course looking for more power. Im completely rebuilding my engine from the crank up right now, and I need a reliable motor that hopefully can last 4 years(get me through college) and I'd say I'll put over 60 hours. Possibly close to 100. Every Sunday during the summer I ride close to 2 tanks, so like 4 hours, plus other times during the week and early on in the season too. I also should mention that I do some free riding chasing boat wakes and doing stabs, etc. Going to be working on rolls this season for sure, but there are times when there's nobody around that I do some freestyle off of my own wake.
So here's the mods I'm considering. I should also mention I'm on a a tight budget. I honestly would say I'd spend 300$ on performance mods, but if there's something I have to do that's a little more, I might.
So the first thing I'm starting to consider is porting. I'd only do cylinder porting with seems to run around 300$, and I'd either choose jetmaniac/blue, or I might consider php since they're sort of local to me. I'm worried about it becoming a tuning nightmare tho. How does porting affect reliability?
I plan on keeping stock compression with my stock head, just because I like the piece of mind going WOT occasionally. I'd never go up to 185 psi. Maybe somebody could pitch in on how much comp from 170-185 affects reliability.
Msd enhancer: seems like the price is around 250$ shipped nowadays. Sounds like the slight timing advance is nice, but some of you say to have no rev limit/adjustable and advance the static timing. I refuse to advance the static timing, and I'll set my rev limit at 8000 or 7750(my protec is set at that). I don't crank it all the way up because there's times going WOT in chop that it'll unhook.
So is the 250$ worth it for a mod that's pretty healthy on reliability? Or should I stick w/ my protec and spend money elsewhere. I'd possibly consider an epic if you can get the old ones new, because I can't afford the new one+ all the software, cords, switches, etc. That runs close to 500$.
Got my tray apart right now, so now would be the time to add a cooling line if I choose to. I ride from 50 degree water to 80 degree water, and I assume if I ran dual in less than 50 I'd have to run restrictors?

Thanks ahead of time for all advice!

If you are going to port you are going to want to run a girlded head. So there is another 150-250$ And Art will also recommend boring your cylinders and getting new pistons if you are still running the stock bore and pistons.

Well a girdled head is much more important when you're running high comp.. I'm going to the next oversize 81.5 mm, with new OEM pistons already.

For a ski that is not jumping around, OEM heads are fine. If your jumping around, trying nose stabs, That pipe is alot of weight on the side of the cylinders. The Girdled Head helps to support the cylinder. Not necessarily to do with High Compression. Many Lamey's do not have Girdled heads, Not Needed, the cylinder is stronger than OEM. And many of those run upwards of 200psi.

Yeah I'm jumping around, stabs, decent air off of wake board boats, working on rolls pretty soon, and will be hitting up Lake Michigan surf..

Have you considered 62T cases? That might be a good upgrade. Don't be afraid of compression. I'm running a stock 08 superjet motor with the head milled for 185 psi, MSD enhancer, B pipe, and 760 carbs. So far this season I have put 52 hours on it and I race, freestyle, and surf ride all on the same ski. I haven't had any issues so far. The real test will be in February when I race the Mark Hahn 300. I don't think you will have any reliability issues with the setup you are looking for. You might just want to do a milled head and a lightened flywheel. That will keep you under $300 and give you a pretty good improvement. 62T cases might be a good idea, but between the cases and carbs it can get expensive.

Can you get more bottom end out of the 62T cases? Or do you only see the gain in top end? I am trying to decide if I should go with a 46-48mm blackjack on my 61x or get 62t cases and run oem 38's.

Dont upgrade to enhancer no matter what you do. You will notice zero difference over the protec. Porting would make the most difference.and whoever ports it for you will take care of tuning specs for you.

My buddy and I have similar setups except he has a 61x with a pro tec cdi and I have a 62t with an enhancer and dual 44s. My ski blows his away as far as power goes. You can notice the difference everywhere when you ride both of our skis.

PHP for port work for sure, Zack knows everything. Aren't those blue motors running crazy compression ratios for pump gas?

By the way, I bet PHP will have you keep the 61x cases. Money can be spent elsewhere for sure...

Yea blue motors are high comp mines at 220 psi but next week I should be riding the 898php

I wouldn't worry about running higher compression just make sure to run 93 octane fuel. I put 110 hours on my 62t set up this year with 185 psi and B pipe. Just did a compression test and still have 185 psi. Ski is a boat chaser so it sees plenty of wide open throttle.

I was just on the phone with zack from PHP for 35 minutes and we talked about everything. He cleared up alot of stuff. Super nice guy full of a ton of knowledge.. He highly recommend a girdled head too of course :p.
Learned a crap ton of stuff!!

He reminds me of Travis Pastrana everytime I talk to him for some reason. And it's unbelievable how much he knows about everything. What are you gearing up towards?
