dont fill it with resin, use 2 part foam, sand smooth, then reinforce, to fill solid would add a bit of weight.
I used 2 part epoxy (Fasco) and added cabosil & microballons to create a thick paste (as thick as bondo). I used 1 pint and total weight added is around 1/4 lb. I prefer using epoxy because it doesn't act as a bumper between the hull and layered fiberglass.

If you must use foam, I suggest 16lb foam (stuff is great for this type of job). 2lb foam is useless and only serves as a smoothing transition - its too soft and acts like a void.

Filling the gap is important because if your laying 12oz or 17oz biax, you will never get it to lay into the crack.

Another alternative is to use epoxy resin mixed with LOTS of chop.

ps. Don't forget to beef up under the nose (the 2 voids, pole area and sides).

Thats what i have-2 part epoxy from West systems. I have Silican thickener too. I guess I add that after i mix to a nice consistency and fill in the void. Sounds easy now.

Make sure when you reinforce, you wrap the glass down to the bottom of the hull as well so it makes that 90 degree turn. That will help give it strength because beefing it up wont do as much as also wrapping it down onto the bottom. Thats where alot of the strength comes from.

Pulled out the blowsion kit yesterday. Now do i lay both the carbon piece and the fiberglass piece at the same time or do them seperate? My guess is at the same time and the carbon goes under the fiber. Also for the 2 part epoxy , is it 1:1 ratio?

Footholds Installed!!

Over the past two night i installed my Kickers. I could have got it done in one night but the girlfriend got in the way. Why is it women want to spend more time with you when you have stuff to get done?? Not as bad as i thought it would be, great learning experience.

Update!

Its been 3 months now and i think it is about time to update this build. So here i go because a lot has gone on.

I got the hull reinforced in January along with the pole area. No pics right now, camera is at home. Also recieived my Waterdawgs Diablo hood, nose piece and Handlepole bracket. This thing looks tits.

Dropped off my ski at Ap Designs for paint work first week of February. Its going to get a lime green and blue camo paint job, kinda like Joe's ski's are painted. Also installed an ADA Girdled head thanks to duckman for the sweet deal.

The first week of this month i ordered a bunch of parts through Ant. Got my
-1" turn plate, 0 degree bars, UMI steering kit, and some other misc stuff. Got some 44 carbs from Nikad along with the manifold. Switched out the innards with the jetting he recommended and got those installed. Tapped the other side of my intake last night and installed a barbed fittingfor the second fuelpump. I will be getting the chin pad today from Oxnard and my -2 UMI pole should be here on Friday. :arms: Hopefully my ski will be done at paint by Mon or Tues of next week. River season officially starts for me this year on the 30th so wish me luck in getting it back together in order.

Ill post some pics tonight of my motor.
