650/X-2 Stubby pump cone?

I have a 650sx, 15.5, 38mm carb, and pipe mod. I made a stubby cone and it made my ski come to life. I was sorting some catb issues and whatnot when I installed the stubby cone but it seemed to cavitate a lot less. (Pulled a lot harder buti hard carb changeat the same time. I only rode the 15.5 twice before the stubby cone and was dealing with carb issues. It cavitated down low really bad only on takeoff and I dont know why, but the cone made my ski take off instead of cavitating really bad and then going

What is the condition of your prop? If it's gnarled up a bit it could cause cavitation. Also make sure your pump is sealed in properly and tight.

i got a bone stock sn 650 that has been passed down to the gf, may i ask what this pipe mod you're all talking about is..as in doing a mod to the stock pipe or do you mean throwing in a factory B ??

hes referring to a 650 sx kawasaki......yamaha superjet is complete different pipe

on the kawi we can chance the water route to dry out pipe/waterbox more = more power

You can modify your existing Kawaski exhaust pipe and water box to give you a slight boost in performance and help with acceleration.
-A " Cheap " inexpensive pump cone may be worth a try. as will as Cheap decent impeller..

FYI- Dont go crazy over a 650sx, there are ALOT of aftermarket parts out there to improve these skis and ALOT that make matters worse. The 650sx is a mild heavy ski that is suitable for beginners..but you WILL outgrow it ( she may not-im not to judge) I know alot more people who " HAD" a 650 sx, than I do that still have " The OLD GIRL.." including myself.. ive HAD 3..Just dont get to crazy on a ebay shopping spree. I wish I would have listened years ago. Dont take it personal, Just my opinion..Good Luck

from what a hear running a kawi OEM exhaust is a good cheater pipe for a yami 650(maybe 701 too)

Been There Done That!, Not Bad Kinda like a cheap Bpipe. I dried mine out almost to a drip and opened the holes to match the gaskets. Not Bad if you have the parts and a coffman manifold for a 701/6m6

"he" has an octane so "she" now has the sj lol, sorry guys had hit "search" to try and further my knowledge of cones, ended up here saw "650" and didnt notice the kawi instead of yam ..my bad, the drying out the pipe part..that however i do understand ;-)

as for spending money...well when, not if, she outgrows the stock 650 it'll continue the hand me down trend and become the boy's ski after finding her a newer ski.

Depends on your motor and pump set up. My 1100 X2 with 650 pump spun the sh*t out of my impeller swirl 14/19 with the stock cone. When I went to the stubby cone it hooked up way better. Top and bottom.

has anyone tried to extend the factory pipe 3" and how are you routing to dry out pipe and water box and what is a good prop for the 650sx??????????????
