SX/SXi/SXi Pro Will not start. Clicking noise

My 94 750sx won't start. When I hit the start button the relay just clicks. So I charged the battery and it did the same thing. I took the electrical box apart and everything was clean. The contacts on the relay were a little corroded so I cleaned them up and threw the whole thing back together and now it doesn't even click. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

how is your batt and earths

My battery is fine and I've got everything connected & bolted down in the right place. So where ever the ground or "earth"is it should be intact.

Sounds like bad batt. or corrosion or bad ground

But it could also be the relay they dosnt last forever.

You can test i by removing it from the ski and attatch 12v from the battery direct to the "small" side (electromagnet control) and then check if the current goes thru the "big" side by beeptest it with a multimeter.

Check the battery voltage, if It drops below 12.5 or so fast its toast

also remember a batt can show 12v but under load it will be dead so try a load test this happend to my mate the other day

we rode all day come near the end of the day clicl click turned out batt died

just try change batt first

You need to voltage drop test all components. Do you have access to a DVOM (multimeter)? It's the quickest, easiest, and most accurate way to troubleshoot electrical issues.

I have a volt meter. The battery has 12v, I cleaned the terminals and cables. The starter turns over with power going to it. When I put power to the relay and connect the volt meter to the power stud & the wire that goes to my start switch I get 12v. So my switch is good. Now I just need to check the relay I guess.

Test across both relay terminals (bat terminal on relay to starter terminal on relay) while cranking. If its anything more than .5V, it's bad. You can verify as well by jumping the two terminals with a screwdriver or suitable cable. If it starts you know the relay is bad.

I had the same problem it turned out to be the ground block for the relay. Move the ground to the post right next to it and try that.

I tested across both terminals and it doesn't start. It turns over all day. Where is the ground for the relay? The only ground I know of is the one near the starter.

Check positive and negative cables to make sure they are all tight. Two jump relay if it cranks replace it..

The positive & negative battery cables? I cleaned all the terminals and they are tight. I'm not 100% sure what you mean about jumping it? I tried to, and it doesn't start. The starter just spins.

The black wire that comes off the solenoid in the ebox should be on a ground post the problem I had is that post did not work as a ground so I moved the wire to the post right next to it.

the ground block is in the cdi box. is saying with everything hooked up use a screw driver to conect the power post on the cdi to the post for the starter if it turns your starter it could be a bad relay if the relay does not do the same thing by pushing the button. could be a bad conection on the start stop switch wireing. check the inline plug in the engine bay for the start stop make sure the posts on the plug are not corroded. could be the starter is not grounded out well . also your cdi box has to be grounded to the motor for the relays to function well. if still having an issue video tape it slap it on youtube and we might be able to see the issue better.

The ground that the black wire is connected to has 3 other wires going to it right? So all you did was move it to the mount right next to it on the black box?

Okay I'll give those things a try. Where is the ground for the CDI box, do you know?

Sorry I should have clarified. I meant it spins as in trying to start the motor.
