300/440/550 Reed question

I was wondering what exactly the "reed stuffer" is? I have read a couple of people mention it, but don't know exactly what they are and what they do?

Reed mods usually consist of spacers and and stuffers. The spacer moves the reed cages back so that they dont block the intake transfer ports and allows the fuel air/mix to gain more speed into the cylinders for a very theoretical better swirl, while the stuffer funnels all that air/fuel flow speed into and through the reeds, increasing the velocity again.

you are correct but the spacers are also used to move the reeds away from the turbulence on the intake and help the reeds last longer.

If you can find them used, yes.

New, probably not.

I just have stock reeds in my set up now, I have heard that a lot of people use the stock ones. Are those the best ones to use on a 650sx?
