Reed spacer ??

If a reed spacer is added is it neccessary to increase your jetting or no?
with reed spacers is the volume of the intake charge increased?

No need to change jetting because of the spacer? Are you running Carbon reeds? I run glass with no spacer.

Intake charge volume will stay the same.
Correct me if I am wrong.

You're wrong. :arms:

Yes, a spacer will increase the volume of the intake tract. Think about it - you're putting a spacer between cases and intake manifold.
More volume!

I dont recall having to increase the jetting when I installed my spacer. But its been a few years ago. You may need to mess with the adjusters but thats about it.

I agree w/ Keith........reed spacers are not a modification that requires jetting changes b/c it does not greatly affect your air/fuel ratio. It does not increase or decrease the amount of air that can pass through the intake system. The main benifit of the spacer is to position the reed cages away from the turbulence of the crank (thereby increasing reed life expectency of the reeds) and/or change the angle inwhich the the reed cages rest to give a better air shot up the transfer ports. Do they work???? I have never felt a increase in performance but the theroy is still sound. It does help you cram more air into the cases before the reeds close but it is not a huge amount so don't expect a performance increase like you will see if you port the cases.

I test 12mm spacer plate on my stock stroke lamey/full spectrum 48mm, then without spacer, jetting was exactly the same. and i can't feel any difference between both tests. Only good thing to run with spacer plate is that reeds last longer.
