What to do with these cases???

I bought these cases from a long time board member seeing no pictures.
Cases were described as "in good condition"
I would love to keep these, the out sides look great, came with all bolts in good condition and bedplates all for a good price....

I am not happy with how the cases look on the inside and believe this should have been mentioned in the ad-sale. But looks are not everything and since I'm no pro, some of you are help me decide what to do...

Please see pictures attached...
I know very little about this stuff, but I want to learn....

What happened to these?
Is it going to affect my engine?
What needs to be done to fix them if anything (and costs involved)....

Basically I hate dealing with others peoples disasters, junk, mess ups... If these are going to give me any trouble in the near future due to there condition, I will send them back.

It sounds like the seller would be willing to take them back if needed. but as stated if they will do I would like to keep them!
I just don't know any better myself!?!?!

Thanks in advance
-NICK

Well I'm sure that you didn't pay the price of new cases...Over $500 from Yamaha now. Looks like just minor rash from a crank giving up. Use a dremel and sanding roll to clean them up or send them down and I'll make them into the full out SCREAMER cases! You wouldn't even know them when you got them back.

The way some of you guys are constantly bringing up topics like this has made me decide that the only way to safely sell parts anymore is to sell to someone you know that is local. I've talked to some others about this and they share similar feelings. Keep this up and there will be virtually no used parts market left because everyone is getting pushed away.

If you want "New" condition parts, buy new parts.

Dude you got me all wrong!!!:banghead: :banghead:

Look, you might be surprised how very little I even know about this stuff. Last winter I worked a lot on my hull and learned there. I have never built a motor before in my life. Some of these parts I have never seen before in my life too.

What is wrong with asking, Friends and other people whom feedback I respect, for what they think of them......

In both these thread I haven't been furious or had to deal with bad sellers....

I asked the seller and he said, that he bought these cases from a board member, never seeing them, had them shipped straight to a shop, still never saw them then had them shipped to me from the shop.

This inst asking of "did I get "jipped", sorry if it sounded that way.... I just want to know were to go from here.... I mean if I have 2 guys tell me keep em there good.... I'm probably gonna keep em.....

If you knew very little about computers and you bought a part used and it came in looking unlike you would expect, would you not ask some one you know that has the knowledge to tell you about it......
Well thats what this board is to me.... a humungues Knowledge bases!!!:Banane01:

I cant afford to pay new prices, and I think in most cases thats true for all. I know I can pick up another set of good cases for the same prices as these... but i don't want to.... as I said in the first post I want to want to keep these..... I just wanted to make sure Im not screwing up....

Just go Ride:headbang:

club.

Keep asking questions, and you will keep getting well informed answers from the like of Butti and Supertune.

If somebody is afraid of the backlash of selling a part on this board, then they did not do a very good jobe describing the part either with words or by visual means.

First of all, there's no harm in asking here in the post. I don't think you are doing anything wrong, except assuming that you will get A1 quality parts for dirt cheap prices. Keep in mind that a little money saved up front may cost a lot later.

I am a little surprised that someone would receive a part for money and then turn around and sell it without inspecting it, sight-unseen. That is just foolish on the seller's part and certainly if you are uncomfortable with these, you should get your money back.

Like SUPERTUNE said, these are $500 new, around $250.00 used. If you got these for less than $100.00, you got a decent deal, assuming you were aware that you had to do a little work on them. Why don't you hit SUPERTUNE up to get an estimate on what he wants to set them up. If you end up with a total outlay of around $250.00, you are ahead of the game because they have been inspected/reworked by a pro builder.

I guess your words and my brain don't meet where they should. :bad3: My bad. I've just noticed a significant increase in this type of thread and the usual outcome is that the person got a fair deal on what they bought. I completely agree that items should be as described, but people need to be a little bit reserved about how things are worded in these threads. Maybe a thread to the effect of "Hey I just picked up these cases and I need to know if they are usable" I guess it's all symantics, but I do know that there are sellers having trouble with this and choosing not to offer their goods on the open market in order to avoid any potential hassle.
