Welcome to the club. I do the whole hood seal with silicone and it is fine but the spot right on top over the spark plugs always comes off. I tried 5200 twice and that didn't last. right now I have a zip tie through a hole I drilled right in the middle holding it of. It made it through yesterdays ride succesfully. Maybe that with 5200 would be good. I wonder how super glue would work just for that spot right by the bars?

I replaced the hood seal on my 88 X2 and I tried every glue I could think of. No luck with any of them. I think that there must be some form of epoxy that you could use that would bond to the seal and the hull?

Anyone ever use Goop? That stuff seems to stick to about anything it gets on. The problem with super glue is positioning. I have had good luck with goop on some hard to glue things, never used Gorilla glue. The other one that sticks to everything is construction adhesive. What about urethane sealant?

is a new oem x2 seal molded for the x2's contours? or is it just a bendable roll? it would seem that if it can be shaped/reshaped, you could put the seam elsewhere. :dunno: i guess i hafta look at one

Its just a big loop, but I like the way the newer design clamps onto the lip.

a good way to hold it on would be contact cement. youd have to apply a lot and install the seal while the contact cement is still wet and thick.

Not as intended, but as long as air can get to it and let the sovents dry out it will dry. Ever try and get the lid off after its been sitting a long time?

when i put my hood seal on i just used a rubber malet on it all around, never used any adhesive, and its been on just fine all summer, never had a problem with leaks either.
Tried that, it lasted about 2 hours in the ocean, probably too much hull flex jumping.
