I really like the clean looks of that pump.
I am curious how well the powdercoating would stand up to salt water though. I had the housing split on my Skat Mag after just one season due to corrosion between the housing and stainless insert. I would like to find a way to keep it from happening again.
Anyone ever annodize one before the stainless insert was pressed in?

I'm not sure if it's OCD but when I have to pay Skat $480 to repair a $1400 pump 9 months after they built it, it gets me to thinking.
Thanks alot guys as far as powder coating holding up in the ocean i have a epoxy primer powder i would lay down first and it will give it some extra protection from the salt. But like anything other then plastic metal and paints will always eventually get broken down by the salt i would say with the primer down first and with a good wash after every ride you could get 5 years out of it. see powder when baked out all the way can be flexed in half with out breaking. for and example i will get some pic up of this its pretty tuff stuff and looks good

What is the main reason for powdercoating to flake off? Poor prep or is it prone anytime the surface is chipped or damaged?
My TBM Tote is flaking horribly and I have seen plenty of coated handpoles flaking as well.
Um....I would have torn them a new arse thats unacceptable especially for the price
My RRP pole was great, never flaked at all... no salt water mind you, and there isn't a change in operating temperature like a pump/pipe would have...just assuming the expansion coefficient is different hence the peeling, Ive only ever seen it flake on pipes
yes poor prep is correct any oils or rust corrosion on aluminum and even were something has been welded pretty much anything on the steel aluminum brass copper whatever it be has to be laquer wiped down or sand blasted for best results. I like to sand blast everything unless its brand new material and it is already 100% clean besides oils on it. powder should not chip like wet paint. I raced dirtbikes in the desert for a lot of years and as we all know offroad racing beat's and wear's thing out. anyways i had a 2005 cr250 i powdered the frame semi gloss black and from boot rub and rock hitting fame it took 6 months befor the powder started to RUB off not chip. So if it is chipping off that is because it was not fully cured out or the powder was bad and old.

Oh and OCD as long as stainless touches aluminium it will do that those materials don't like each other

it flakes on exhaust pipe because they didnt use a high temp powder. im going to test this out when i powder coat my case's and the rest of the engine pieces cuz i do not believe the exhaust pipe gets over 250deg's and that should be fine for any powder will report back on that one. Plus ever factory B-pipe the part with the set screws i wanna call it exhaust manifold anyways its powder coated in a grey hammertone and it not high temp and it holds up
