FX-1 FX-1 Ported 701 Mag 144 pump build

So around the middle of August I had a 750sxi(that im currently parting out) that I was pretty happy with, but I still was waiting for a RN superjet to pop up. Then an FX-1 hull popped up in Mass with tons of extra parts and I had never rid an fx-1 or even seen one in person. But after doing a little research I couldn't find one person that said something negative about fx's so I bought the hull. It's in mint shape and looks to have minor reinforcing on the walls of the inside. Once I got the hull home I just went nuts buying parts. So far I have a 701 61x ported motor from my buddy live2ride/hardcore(great guy by the way) A new solas 144 mag pump w/ a brand new 10/16 hooker prop, footholds(installed), Tom21 Tubbies, gray diamond cut turf kit and lots of other odds and ends i'm sure i'm forgetting. My plan is to build a decent freeride/freestyle ski that is very reliable because I really only ride ponds/lakes. I figured i'd share my build with you guys, and any advice would be appreciated this is my first real build besides a 550 that I pretty much just dropped a motor in.

Glad to see someone finally bought it. i was in contact with Craig many times awaiting an answer back on this thing. I tried to buy it from him months ago. I could tell He wasn't sure he wanted to sell it after he posted the ad, I'm guessing he changed his mind Again. Good Luck with the build. Put the Camo turf On! The Solas Pump will Really help. But you will have to modify the shoe and intake duct.

Yeah he didn't seem like he wanted to sell it but he said he barely had any tray time on his sxr. And I was gonna use the camo turf but it wont match with the colors I want to do, something like a laser blue top/bottom and a black handlepole.

Awesome, get to work!
Just waiting on the tubbies to come in so I can throw them on and shes getting painted!

sweet, gotta love an FX1 build!!!
Thanks Man!

I guess the pump mod is already done?
Just need to drill the holes for the 144 pump and I'm going to grindout/epoxy the stock pump shoe until I get a 144 shoe and I'm ready to do that. Or if I like this build as much as im hoping I might just buy a superject intake and pump section from tom21 and glass that in.

Just go ahead and do the tom21 pump and call it good. This was a strait clean hull, he never finished it. when the 2007 RN cam along he tossed all the drivetrain into the superjet leaving this on the side. i was on my way that weekend to buy, when he stopped communication on it. I knew he was gonna change his mind. alot of people wanted this hull and he wouldnt answer anyone. I did ALOT of research wanting to build this thing. check out asmbandits FX1 on pwctoday for ideas. You got lucky. Good Luck

I'm definately gonna do that tom21 swap just not right away because from what i've hurd the 144 pump swap isn't even nessesary until you get into some serious modding. I'm only running a mild ported 61x with lots of bolt ons, so a stock 144 pump would be plenty of hook up, but since i'm running a mag pump with my motor setup i'm gonna have more hook up then I need right now so I plan on doing the tom21 swap when it's time for a bigger motor and by then it will probably be ready to be stripped down and all redone again. Also i've seem asmbandits build thats one of my favorite fx-1 builds.

I'd put it all togehter with the stuff you have. I know there were a few extra ride plates and a prop with it. Put it together and go from there. It will be a build and one that will grow with time. No Rush. The Solas pump is a very nice pump. But again you will have to Grind and fit, grind more and fit. Then you will still want to build up the engine even more. I'd be looking for a FX1 pipe...

Yeah its definitely not gonna be finished once its all together is gonna grow over time and i've been keeping my eye out for an fx-1 pipe but I was just gonna save up and buy a brand new mod pipe I hurd they fit its just a little tight with the fx-1 tank.

Hey guys I need a little help I've never removed a prop so I could use a little advice on how to go about that. And also I'm not sure which direction im supposed to press out the driveshaft I took two pictures of each direction, pressing it the long way through, or pushing the short side through let me know which way to go.

should press out towards the rear. the long way sometime you may see an oring or 2. on my kawis it was that way. remove the prop first.once you have prop off. grab ahold of the shaft and housing and feel for any crunchies in there as well as slop. I assume you want to replace bearings any way

So push it the direction of the second picture? And this pump doesn't matter I just need the driveshaft to put in my mag pump.

It gets pressed out of the rear/exit end of the housing. The pump swap isnt hard but time consuming to get just right, hardest part is making sure everything lines up properly. The shoe is another issue, make sure you use an aluminum shoe and have the taper machined off the tabs on the inside where it mounts to the hull.
