300/440/550 1987 JS550 Cylinder honing/boring? Help!

Hey guys, question about my 1987 550 pp cylinder. It was seized when I got it but since loosened. It started/ran but then died quickly. Tore motor completely down to rebuild entirely (crank, pistons, seals, gaskets, ect). My question is this, My cylinder walls have some, what appear to be minor scratches in them (not sure if a hone or bore would be in order ) but when I took it to a dealership to have it looked at they told me you cant do it and that it has to be sent out and re-plated/nikasil'd and then resurfaced. Is that true? I see guys talking about honing and boring on these cylinders but cant seem to get a good answer on whether or not they are nikasiled to begin with or if they are not and if you can infact just bore or hone. The service manager told me that you dont hone nikasil and I dont know either way. Any info would be great! Thanks!

Look up tim, z force racing. He has an eBay store now. He's done many of those cylinders and he will give you a fair price and quality work.

RAGS, you were right about Tim! Great guy, quality work and VERY fair pricing! He will definitely get all my motor business for the foreseeable future! Thanks again!
