Custom/Hybrid Bllaster guts in a BOB Gen 2.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but would Blaster 1 parts fit into a BOB hull. In Canada it seems like there are cheap blasters with a lot of mods already completed where as even the square nose SJ are quite expensive around here. Im trying to do some research ahead of time and figure out the cheapest way to build up a simple BOB for a novice/intermediate rider. I dont need anything crazy but there are some cheap blasters kicking around and they seem like they would be happy in a BOB.

Any insight is appreciated. I do realize there are some SN parts that dont switch over to the BOB hulls.

Thanks,

Heebs

I have no idea what parts from a Blaster will fit in a BOB, but from our FAQ page, here's what you'll need for Super Jet Conversions -

Will everything from my Super Jet bolt into a Gen2 or G3 BOB Hull?
96-07 Yamaha Super Jet components will bolt right up.
-Internal Fuel Filler is recommended, but you can mount the Fuel Filler above the handle pole bracket.
-The stock pole and bracket will bolt up, but it is recommended to upgrade to aftermarket with adjustable capabilities.

08-12 Yamaha Super Jets will require a drive shaft from a 07 and older Super Jet.
-Also note that the steering cable is different on the newer Super Jets as well, the throw travel is shorter.

90-95 Yamaha Super Jets Handle Pole and bracket will not work.
-You will either need a Handle Pole, Bracket and chin pad from a '96 and newer or any aftermarket pole and bracket will mount up to the BOB.
-Mid Shaft bearing housing is too small, and you will need one from a '96 and newer. Many Yamaha Runabouts share the same one needed.
-Exhaust hose from the water box to the outlet tube is reduced to 2" on the Square Nose. You will need either the hose from the 96 and newer model that is the full 2.5" or make an adapter to make the end of your 2 inch to the 2.5 tube on the BOB.

The only things from a blaster that would fit, are the engine, electronics and exhaust if it's a bpipe or something similar. The pump would work if you got a new driveshaft for it

I have done 2 blaster to am hull conversions and they are pretty good for it .... They parts that don't fit are parts you normally want new like a new white fuel tank or go kart tank, mounts , drive shaft
I allow $500 for extra parts on a build

Just remember if you use a blaster motor remove the rubber block and replace the 4 bolts with shorter ones or it will touch the bottom of the hull

Ive got a blaster 1 at home, the drive shaft was exact same length as a RN 96-07 SJ, and friend is currently using it in his Rickter. The mid housing was diffrent though. It had a long "pipe" on it, with splines in it. I was quite surprised to see this, as i was at the understadning that the driveshaft was longer?

Still don't understand why more people aren't doing this. Far as I can see. It's cheaper to find a modded blaster buy a kart tank and new motor mounts and rock an aftermarket hull.......far as I can tell anyways.

yeah im in the same boat im just trying to find a decent priced superjet to swap in a bob but if i could find a cheap blaster i might do that i just dont want to have to find a bunch of little parts this would be my first swap so it would be nice to have everything pretty much there to make it easy

The only thing to remember is you'll need pole and steering etc which the blaster obviously won't offer up. Just keep an eye on the parts for sale section and for around $1500 you can't find a pretty awesome blaster that would make a bob flip. Did you see the new bob 3ride hll? A bit more recreation a little less backflip from what they are saying. What are you looking to build? To be honest I have a few hulls in mind both new nd used but I'm still not 100% decided.

yeah that would be sweet to get a cheap blaster and be able to flip. yeah i saw the new hull looks sweet I think ill still go with the shorter hull i want to do flat water freestyle and be able to flip. i want to basiclly build a pretty basic bob at first then once i figure out how everything works then ill buy a mag pump and a big motor. im just not sure if ill get the gen2 or 3 yet

Right on man. I like the 3ride, the rok, and I love the vision!! I'm more into free riding with some big air and boat chasing. So I need an all around hull. For freestyle only you'll kill on a bob!
