Blaster 1100 vs 1200 Blaster

There are way more trip blaster guys on pwctoday. More racers over there.
That being said, TheX has way more info on aftermarket hulls, freestyle, and Freeride than any other site in the world.

Are you talking 1200 yamaha vs 1100 yamaha or 1200 yamaha vs 1100 kawi?

1200 yamaha is better and worth the money over the 1100 yamaha. You get carbs, better bottom end (what really matters on a blaster) more bore. Take the 1200, mill the head or go aftermarket, throw some flame arrestors on it and go. The ski will be really nice.

The Kawi 1100 makes more power than both the Yamahas, but, in order to get that power, you need carbs, intake, reeds, head, timing advance and dry out the pipe. If you are looking for easy power, might be more than you want to get into. None of the mods are hard, but they do cost money.

Good luck,
Scottie

looks like you know your stuff about that kawi 1100 tripple. i'm doing a swap into a blaster. could you pm with some more helpful tips. which carbs, how to dry out the pipe, jetting. i would really appreciate that. picking up my kawi 1100 this weekend! unless you have one and live in ontario?

Take a look at the " ATT blaster dudes " thread in General I posted ... I bought a pump from him last week . Should have it tomorrow . He has a 1200 in a Raider sounds like a nice set up ....

I have a bone stock yamaha 1100 in mine, it makes nice smooth power. This winter it is getting the head milled flywheel lightened and the pipe dryed out. I am hoping that it will wake up even more.

Check into the Rad dudes 1100 kawi conversion kit for the Yamaha hulls. I haven't used it, but it sounded like a good design.

I'm surprised to hear that the 1100 kawi out performs the yamaha. Why is that?

In stock form it doesn't read

gonna rebump this thread...
All the engines being talked about are YAMAHA.

Really trying to decide if I should use the 1100 sitting here.. or spend another 12-1500$ to get a 1200...
Is the power that big of a difference that its worth it?

Or am I better off just running the triple 44s on the 1100? or just sticking with the triple 38s on the 1100...

Opinions?

Use what you have for now. You will be plenty busy with installation details and getting the pump load correct. Once you get the 1100 running fast and reliable, upgrading to a 1200 will be easy. Normally 44s will give a little better acceleration but a stock 144 pump will be limiting below 20mph and in rough water. OEM 44s will need richer jetting with the smaller engine if you really want to try them. I would work out all other details first before worrying about more power, the puny stock 1100 will be wonderful.

You won't have any issues with the 144 pump. Just have to prop it right.

As for motors, always liked the 1200 better than 1100, at least in terms of yamaha. But, you can take you 1100, upgrade to silver 44s/intake/reeds and have a reputable builder port your cylinder and have more power than a 1200 stock for about the same money.

The conversion is easy. Use ADA or ExtremeThrottles brackets, motor drops right in without issues. Only 'hard' part of the build is defoaming the rear of the blaster hull and putting in the rear waterbox. Again, not hard, just time consuming and annoying.

The 12 vein solas will give you a little better hook up, but more importantly, you won't have to worry about breaking stock stator veins. That is an issue we have had to deal with. For 480 bucks or so, I think it is worth it. But, you could build it with the stocker for now and always add the pump later.

FWIW, I have a 1200 in my blaster and it is about the same as my freinds ported 1100 yamaha blaster. I think you should do the solas pump for sure. Better hook, and like Scottie said, no wories on breaking veins.
