FX-1 Ski dies after 100 yards or so.

Had my FX-1 out tonight. Ski would run 100 yards then engine would die. It didn't bog down..........just died. It would start right back up and run another 100 yards or so and then just die. I think its my ignition coil. Anybody agree? I've also had some issues with intermittent starting problems in the past. Ski wouldn't start, wouldn't turn, didn't even click. 5 minutes later it would start. Is this problem potentially related? Should I replace my relay at the same time I replace my ignition coil?

Are you running an MSD enhancer ignition by any chance? Mine had the same symptoms a couple of seasons ago and found it was a faulty MSD box. Also check the start/stop switch like special fx said.

Internal fuel filter in the carb would be one place to start.

I jut had problems with fuel tank venting. Just bought the ski and the guy didn't have a check valve on it. And ya they can go bad so start there.

that was my problem with that same symptom, but since you are 100% sure you are getting fuel, i am 100% stumped.

when i have had bad coils the ski just ran like crap. didnt die.

sounds like a fuel issue. bypass the fuel selector and see how it runs. make sure your tank is clean. when was the last time you rebuilt the carb?

my money is allso on a fuel starvation. Have you replaced your fueltank - carb fuel filter?

Replaced ignition coil and took it out to the lake......still does it. Ran good around the lake the first time then started cutting out again (turns off like i hit the stop button). At one point I couldn't go 20 feet without dieing (shuts off). May be temp related...rode around the lake once fine then it started acting up. Started RIGHT back up everytime after it stalled. Took it home and hooked it up to the hose. Couldn't get it to stall on the trailer. Ran it for a long time too with hot and cold water.

Fuel selector switch, just bypass it and run your reserve line directly to the carbs

Ive had a stock cdi cause the same issue and my fuel line was suction cupoing to the bottom once did the same thing
