I want that lol.

It sounds like it could be jetted wrong and your just not close enough to get it tuned in right. Does it stumble on the low side and then clear up and take off? to big on the low side jets?

So I FINALLY, after months in the works got a new engine into my recently purchased 750SX and got it out on the water for the first time this summer. It was amazing.

I noticed however that there was a very discernible point in engaging the throttle where the RPM's and engines power would kick so hard that the ski almost takes off from under me (it sped out from my GF a few times cause she couldn't hold on).

No matter how slowly I pulled the throttle down, it hits this certain point and just jumps foward. It is smooth from there on out - but I would really like a more manageable acceleration. There is essentially very little low end power, then it just hits this power band and nearly shoots out of the water.

I have a blue anodized Keihin CDKII Sudco 42mm carb (that says for racing only) and I can't seem to dial it in any better than it is.

Any help?

Edit: The rest of my setup is as follows -
Factory Pipe - wet
Early 90's Skat Trak 14/17
Ocean Pro Ride plate
R&D intake grate

That is the tuned pipe at work. If you want more linear throttling use the stock pipe. Total power will be much less.

The Low and High jets should be stock to the carb as far as I know. It doesn't stumble on the low end, its reliable and unwavering on the low end, but just all of a sudden, like flipping a switch, accelerates like a solid-state rocket. I try to use it to my advantage in setting up to launch off of a wake or large wave, but its hard to manage. It is also unreliable in trying to have any speed between very slow, and extremely fast.

I quite enjoy the extra power the pipe brings me, I put it on before I ever even rode the ski stock - so I don't know what I'm missing. Is it possible to tune the pipe for less of an explosion of power?

My 93 w/factory pipe tuned for low end was fine with a single 44 mikuni (jetted correctly of course) and the whole powerband was predictable, smooth etc. alot of other mods like extrude honed pump helped also. At one time I had the same problem with dual 44's on that same ski which was a jetting/tune issue.. Factory pipe should have some baseline specs on their webpage also..
