Wet Foam!!!! Super Jet SN!!!! Help!!!!

Today decided to put in some footholds. Removed all turf and discovered there was a crack in the deck. After cutting the holes out for the footholds i discovered a lot of saturated foam. the center of the foam was good, but the foam around the deck and the foam around the outside wall was saturated pretty bad. im afriad the factory seal around the the hull and cap is leaking as well as the cracked hull. Has anyone had this issue before and fixed it? whats the proper way to fix this issue?

You are going to have to drill a 1" hole in the rear of the ski on both sides. Hog the foam out with the drill bit, about 12" or so deep. Insert 1 stick of dynomite into each hole. Light the fuse and step away from the ski.

BAM! Problem solved.

Cut out the tray and start ripping out the old foam. This would be a good time to install trim tube, extra cooling lines, scupper, etc. Then go to Home Depot and buy the pink polystyrene foam. It comes in a 4'x8' sheet and you only need one to do the entire under tray area. Use 5200 sealent around all tubes and along the bond line. Re-install the tray, then install the foot holds, drill a hole at the top of the gunwhale down to where you removed foam for the holds. Then pour two part foam into the hole and you're done.

What is the point behind the pink polystyrene foam? Just wondering as I may have to do this sooner than later.

Running the 5200 along the bond line and tubes is to make sure that what caused water to get in to the undertray area is now sealed, correct?

When you cut the upper tray area do you cut it in a square and legit way so you can re glass it in?

foam from a junked sitdown is another option...pretty sure wydopen would say leave the existing foam in there wet because a heavier SJ handles better anyways...make sure to install drain plugs if you defoam...use a pressure washer to clear out remaining foam after a die grinder with a wire wheel is one option...messy job !

The point of the pink foam is it doesn't act like a sponge like the 2 part foam that currently sits in your ski. Yes, I would recommend doing a nice cut job on the tray so you can reglass the piece back in. Yes, you are correct on the 5200, and I'd suggest using the fast cure, not the crap that takes a week to dry.
