I went out on my ski for the first time yesterday. I bought it with footholds installed. My question which might be a stupid one, using footholds without some type of shoe, is it normal to be somewhat painful? It seemed to hurt the hell out of my feet. Not sure if I need more padding or if this is normal.. Thx!

Wear shoes. Lots of guys use wrestling shoes, I like wearing my running shoes... personal preference.

Ya, I was bare the first couple time I tryed using foothold and I tore some good chuncks of skin off the top of my feet and couldnt lock in either. started wearing wresling shoes which mad it much better but still knoticed the laces jabbing the top off my feet when I kicked in hard. Rode that way for a year. then got some neapreme socks they sell at a surf shop to were under my shoes.
I will run this way for ever. between my thick under padding shoes and socks I am as comfy as can be no matter how hard I kick in, walking around the docks or parking lots. also gives good ankle support

That's what I was looking for. It hurt enough that I didn't want to pull up any harder. We'll see how the shoes go this week. Thx..
