Pics of my home made beach tote...

So, I got a little bored during winter and in between motor rebuilds, failures etc, so I decided to whip up a quick beach tote.

Yeah, it probably looks familiar, but I can assure you it cost about $50 Oz dollars to make (minus the wheels).

Anyway, here's some pics. If you like it, hit me with a PM and I can share the plans with you.

Cheers.

Nice cart.

I should have mine done in a few days, similar to yours but I want to have a winch on the front. I also want the cart to slide onto the trailer and act as the bunks.

Looks good.

Could you post a picture of the axle with the wheel off ?
That is my last hurdle, I'm not sure how I should secure the round axle in the square axle tube.

Nice Tote, wattage!

boris, I would think Mcmaster carr has got to have some type of square nylon type plug with a hole in it for the axle.

I never thought about them.
There I was playing with different size PVC and aluminum tube when they might have exactly what I need.

Thank you WAB

All those that have asked for plans, I'll scan them up and get them to you today.

As for the axle, it's just alloy tube that is a perfect fit for the inside of the square tube. Doing it like this gives you one more point that is removable and makes the whole thing more narrow when it's all taken apart.

I think it would be nice to have the rear end have a slope similar to the handle end. I know it would be difficult to do with the square tubing. A cross bar near the front would be nice to plant your foot on when pulling the ski up onto the dolly by yourself since you have no wench.

Kind of like this one ?

It's not finished yet, I still need to figure out the front. My "wench" won't help me load my ski so I need a winch.

Got me on the spelling ;)

Yeah, very similar to that one, but he could put his crossbar a little lower between the front legs so he can step through easier when need be.

Yeah, you're right about both things, the front (where the axle is) needs to have the rails bent down to make pulling the ski on a bit easier. The square tube bends fine, you just have to dent it a little inside and give it a crack with a mallet.

As far as another crossbar goes, it's not too bad at the moment, as I stand between the rails with one foot on the axle to push it down and then pull the back of the ski up onto the tote.

What makes it difficult is that once you get wheels big enough to push easily through soft sand, they float, and trying to muscle your ski onto the tote when you're getting pounded by 4 foot of whitewash makes for interesting times, oh well!
