same here... Straight legged landings are not too bad...

blue middle ski... slight bend I guess, or is that lame and considered bent?

you are on the right track... the sxr guy was way leaned back...

Looks kind of like you are cliff jumping, you want to hit the water almost perpendicular to the surface. Imagine cliff jumping leaning back and knees bent... but what do I know about the subject?

there are always times when this style of jumping doesn't apply... Grabs (which I never said I was the first to do one), any surf stance trick... actually I pull up a lot when I do re-entrys, and bunny hopping waves, double jumping, but that isn't a straight jump. When you jump straight, your legs should be slightly bent before you jump then extend them fully while flying and when ya land your legs shoud start at the straight position and if need be bend them to absorb the impact, but if your legs are already bent down while your are landing it gives you less ability control the impact... you are limiting your range of travel by already having your body out of position... I jump pretty high straight jumps sometimes and I would die if I landed w/ bent legs... I would imediately fall into the ski, or hit my knees w/ the pole...

I dont think it uses ANY of the same pysics as ski jumping. I do agree that it looks cleaner. I wish I had a video to upload but when I jump a wave, I approach legs bent a bit and as I am jumping I straigten them to create more of a ramp with the water but as soon as my ski leaves the water I lock my feet in and pull up, it does make a difference. Check out standupjetski.com, Andrew has been riding a long time and is pretty good (IMO) he FLYS off the smallest wakes and this is how he jumps too and his jumps look killer the proof is in the pics!

that guy is way out of position and is doesn't really look like he is IN CONTROL... kinda along for the ride...

He is in control trust me. Why is pulling your legs up when you jump so gay. Watch Malone's WF ride, he does 2 straight airs and pulls up on both, he must be gay and not know what he is doing. I guess you have to watch the people who know how to ride to see that jumping with your legs straight is the only way to go.

you are exactly wrong on that take... I will soar 10 ft above you on the same wave.... I guarantee it!

... Look at all the pros and good riders...

So is it that you just like to argue or just like to put down other riders who are not as good of riders as you are?

when it comes down to it, it's only an opinion. keep doing what you are doing if youare happy w/ it. Let's not take what I said out of context... I don't ride flatwater, so I could care less what Malone did at WF... and to be honest, he did a bunny hop, which I stated doesn't apply to this method of jumping since he goal was to clear distance...
