aftermarket square hood interest

just trying to get an idea of how much interest there is out there for aftermarket squarenose hoods since NOBODY makes them anymore (to my knowledge).

they would be the SN equivilant of a RN hood (CF handholds, breathe from the rear, lightweight etc.)

if there was a solid-as-can-be, premade aftermarket freestyle hood for a square available for, say around $650ish, who would buy it?

I would have to say NO.

For $650 I can get a complete square nose SJ, 3 or 4 hulls or about 32.5 stock hoods that I could hack up till the cows came home.

Sorry, but I would rather leave the bling factor to the round heads.

Id possibly be interested. I was thinking of making my own this winter, but dont really have the resources to do it. I'm probably going to take my stock hood, lower it, re-do the hoodliner and all that stuff. But a lightweight one sounds like a MUCH better idea.

Its gotta be a lowered hood though to make the xmetal pole look nice lol.

I don't think it's economically viable. That hood would practically double my Square's value, though.

I disagree, I love my square. I have tons of money invested in the ski and a good solid, tight fitting lightweaight hood would be one of the best investments for it.

I would take one for evaluation.... and let you know how it goes:fingersx:

IMO... If a guy is running a square... he dosent want to spend much on the hull...

I think the hoods are low enought to begin with... yes?

Squares have there purpose and roundies theres.....

I forgot!
It would have to be lighter than stock and would love to see a low profile design. one that works for the RN conversion poles/brackets (legdrag petes) and strong as can be. i just started working on my hood again today to strenghten it. I gotta do something because the first time i bail that ski and land it on its side that hood will be sailing away! Could you do all that for 450ish that sounds like a better price for them old fugly squarenose riders lol.

What makes you say that???

I dont see a benefit of spending the money on a roundnose. My square can do anything a round can. They only look different. The hull itself is the same.

I'm going to lower mine to the line under the stock vents. Just not sure If I can get enough airflow and still have engine clearance when doing that.

one MAJOR difference between rounds and squares is that nobody makes a/m hoods for squares.

while it may be a moot point to roundie owners, it could be something worth considering for square owners.

options. ya know?

hacking up stock hoods is a lot of work and still leaves you with a heavy hood!

this is for those, like freestyleriverrat and others, that actually prefer a square over a round.

theres lots of money being put into extreme-makeover squares lately.

people put more than that into a pipe whether its for a square or round.

Right... I agree Completley....

Guys like the roundies for the looks, and you can make them flater(hoods, poles, etc) Better center of gravity

I said HULL The only thing the same is bottom deck and lenght..... right?

So what about a:
200 basic squarehul
650 kick ass hood
150 roundie conversion nose peice

So you could make a square look and feel like a 1800 roundie for 800 less.....

Ok maybe I would be interested!

Well, I hate to discriminate here but square owners usually don't have much money to spend on their ski's and the round owners are just ex-square owners that hit the lottery and lift their noses to the squares........Yeah, that's it!!!!!!!:highhorse: :highhorse:

yeah but for a sn to convert to rn they gotta get a hull and pole and bracket and nose piece and then the hood to make it strong . i just want a good hood for the ski i already got.

i think it would be cool, and itd be even cooler if i could test one, and way cooler if i felt good about $650 for a hood, but I cant come to shell out that much cash for a hood on a ski thats not my main ride.
